Re: Source for Pinion/Drive Bearings
I just received a very nice TDZ 103ML from Japan...main and pinion gear looks to be very clean and little use (as does the reel). While cranking with various spools, it feels as if the pinion bearings need replacement. I did grease the bearing under the drive shaft, but haven't checked the pinion g...

Re: Source for Pinion/Drive Bearings
Driveshaft bearing and both upper and lower pinion bearings checked out good, and I applied bearing grease to all of them. It might be the gears?

Re: Phenix Spreads Their Wings Into the Line Market with Hydra Braid
Good to know that is seems to be a quality line. I'm always wary when a certain type of company (in this case rod builder) magically develops and brings to market a new product. Did they slap together a PE factory, or are they outsourcing and if so where and with whom? Questions I always like to kn...

Re: Phenix Spreads Their Wings Into the Line Market with Hydra Braid
This is one helluva good quality line. I'm running 30 on my Steez A HLC 6.3 paired with a custom Otterod MHX CB907 for 5/8-1.25 oz moving baits like lipless, topwaters, chatters, wakes, buzzbaits. The 10lb is very thin, excellent body/form, casts great and is strong and quiet. I have it on a Daiwa B...

Re: Bearing oil
My apologies if this goes in a different forum. Wasn’t sure. Wondering what bearing oil are you using for Shimano reels. I used to use yellow rocket fuel but I’m running low. What’s the standard out there currently. Thanks. An oldie but goodie reference chart: http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.ph...

Re: Clacutta te 201 vs te 201gt
Thanks Bantam.Bantam1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 1:25 pmThe GT version had the shallow drilled spool, holes in the frame to reduce some weight and 4 bearings in the handle. The regular TE had a deep spool and bushings in the handle knobs. Slight performance upgrade and a slightly higher cost when they were available.

Re: Servicing LT MQ MagSeal spinners
“Magseal Delete Kit” aka a normal 5x9x3 bearing and a 1mm thick washer because the magseal bearing is a non standard size at 5x9x4 Absolutely, I have actually discussed this with Greg aka, "Rise", as he has done it to all of his MagSeal Daiwas. In so far as servicing my baitcasters, the only thing ...

Re: Constructing a sub-7' enthusiast-level heavy pitching stick (tip-down frogging + bottom-contact sensitivity)
There's really no reason to NOT build a proper acid/spiral wrap...less the aesthetics hurt 'yer feelers more than the benefits of the build would provide.
