I ended up buying one but will probably use it for cranking or paddle tails because of the line cap issue. I wish there were more options similar to the 1520 HD.
Want a low profile around 9-10oz with a IPT around 30. Only thing I can find is the Lews super duty 300.

Re: All around swimbait reel for Levante Leviathan?
I ended up buying the new gen Leviathan. Reel still up in the air. I was scoping the new Zillion HD but not sure if it will have enough line cap? The Antares MD DC looks freaking awesome and would probably keep me throwing swimbaits for longer just for the fun factor but it only has a little more li...

Re: Jointed Claw Shift - better than standard JC?
I haven't fished the SlideSwimmer 175 much, only the 250. Similarly with the Jointed Claw, I actually throw the 230 more than the 178. Regardless, the swim on the Slide Swimmer and Jointed Claw are different, so I'd still make your decision based on the target waters. Sounds like you're talking you...

Re: Jointed Claw Shift - better than standard JC?
the Shift swims tighter and doesn't glide wide like the standard JC.. the "float" still sinks, just not as quickly as the slow sink. I actually prefer the sinking version of the JC unless i'm in skinny water like 5' or less... if you need to fish over the top of weeds with maybe 2' of water above t...

Jointed Claw Shift - better than standard JC?
I’m getting into swimbaits and was going to get a jointed claw 178, possibly the floater because I’ve seen people say the SS sinks too fast. Then I came across the new “Shift” 183 which is also a floater and can be burned similar to the balam. Has anyone fished this bait yet? Should I go for the shi...

Re: Cold versus warm water jerkbaits
110 is typically the first I tie on and is my confidence jerkbait for sure. This fall I actually did better on a junior since the bait was smaller. Personally I’ve never had much luck with jerkbaits in the summer, it’s typically just a spring and fall bite for me. The one bait I have caught some fis...

Swimbait rod recs for 1-4oz, under 7’7
Looking to get my first swimbait rod. I was originally going to do the levante leviathan, but since I only plan to throw 1-4oz, primarily 1-3oz, I’m wondering if it makes more sense to go with a lighter powered rod so I can pair it up with a 200 sized reel. Biggest bait I plan to throw is a Deps bul...

Re: All around swimbait reel for Levante Leviathan?
I think I can get enough line cap on a 200 sized reel with 20lb mono. I plan to use either 20lb mono or braid to leader. This makes me wonder if I should downsize to a lighter/smaller swimbait rod since I don’t plan to throw over 4oz. I think I will make a new post.

Re: All around swimbait reel for Levante Leviathan?
thanks I did read that article. I don’t see myself graduating to 250 size baits because the biggest bass in my area in the northeast are 6-7lbs. My PB is a heavy 5. So max I would throw maybe is 4oz. I do want a reel that will balance the rod and hence the dilemma. I guess I’d be open to other rods ...

All around swimbait reel for Levante Leviathan?
I’m planning to pick up the Levante Leviathan as my first swimbait stick when I can find one in stock. I’m trying to figure out what reel I should pair with it. I plan to fish a wide variety of baits, from wakebaits to glidebaits, 6” citizens and 6” mag drafts. I’m in the NE so I don’t plan on throw...
