Re: How many fishing combos do you need for Bass
Jdmbassman, As a professional fishing guide --- if I hired a guide and he out fished me I would be wondering more about the guide than my gear. Is he telling you where the fish are? -- how he usually catches them in each spot? -- and letting you fish the prime water first? Perhaps offering a few te...

Re: Swimbait reel
Megabass Lin Black Jungle. Normally not a fan of round reels, but this works great throwing the big baits. Easy to adjust between different lure sizes.

Re: Mephisto owners...
After fishing the mephisto extensively this year I have really grown fond of it as a truly amazing do-all rod. I would agree the sensitivity isnt at the top with the likes of NRX rods but its very good otherwise. I find it has a different kind if sensitivity, kind of like the reverberating feeling ...

Re: Mephisto owners...
I picked up my C40 mesphito from TTT, outstanding rod and very versatile. Mines is paired with a Ip79, I mainly used it for swimjigs and frogs. Sensitivity is good overall in my hands. Sweet looking combo there. The C40s look great with everything. :) 7.9 seems a touch to fast for swim jigs for my ...

Re: Mephisto owners...
Great combo!! I'm a big fan of the C40 Mephisto mainly due to it's incredible versatility. I've fished everything from deep cranks to frogs on it and always find new things the rod can do. It's not the most sensitive rod on the planet in terms of bottom contact, but the sensitivity is very good ove...

Re: Mephisto owners...
Thanks. I'm going to use it for what you mentioned plus frogs. I would think that it would work well for smaller swimbaits too.
I'll get a NRX 894 for the heavier jigs as I really like my 853c for jigs/plastics up to 3/8 oz.

I am excited as a Mephisto C40 Evoluzion is now in the arsenal. I am going to pair it with an IP 68 reel primarily and a Type R for frogs. I'll be primarily using the rod for smaller swimbaits, frogs, spinnerbaits and swim jigs. How is this rod with jigs on the bottom? I am interested in reading abo...

Re: Ned Rig
Is the z man weedless shrooms effective for areas with a decent amount of vegetation. I can imagine the regular ones would pick up a bunch of stuff every cast and even snag. What's "decent"? I've used the weedless shrooms in areas with a bit of grass. It would pick up some grass here or there. The ...

Re: Traveling with Fishing Gear
Don't forget the bubble wrap. I used that to wrap the rods at the tip and butt sections. I had four rods and had them aligned tip to butt and then wrapped. I also put a little bit of bubble wrap at the top and bottom of the rod tube to provide a cushion and to help reduce the chance of damage if the...

Re: Shimano Jackal poison Ultima - Anyone got one
As I have said in the past. I have fished a TON of Megabass. Most of the Phase 3, x7 and c40 rods. I also own two Ultima rods (soon to add a third probably) and two Poison Glorious rods. The Ultima in my mind outfishes everything. That being said, they MB rods are REALLY nice rods too. I don't thin...

Re: Keeping a bait on a hook
Owner twistlock centering pins work for me . I bought all sizes , but use the size L on 3/0 and larger wide gap hooks , including the offset ones. Yes , it works on offset hooks . Just put it on the correct way and it will sit properly . There is only 2 ways to put it on the eye of the hook,...the ...

Re: Need new topwater rod
I have a Megabass X4 Destruction model that is rated for up to 3 oz. baits. It is good with bigger topwaters. Even better with those baits is the Megabass Super Red Demon. I refer to that rod as the whompin' stick.
