Re: asking before i buy this time...
I bought the Daiwa Inshore casting reel $129. Low profile, CCRB, easy to cast and handle. I've used in in freshwater also...does that very well. The reel will handle most inshore species without a problem. Pair it with a St. Croix Avid or a Shimano Crucial and you'll have a brand new outfit that wil...

Re: Suggestions for fishing a small pond with snooty fish
I've got the same problem lately in a small lake (20 acre from shore) by our house (SW Florida). Was killing them on Senkos earlier this year..then started to hit frogs buzzed on surface..topwaters (Sammy-Pencils) and chuggers worked for a while too. Small swimbaits worked when windy. Now nothing. S...

Plat business experience
Just wanted to post this regarding my recent transactions with Plat in Japan. T. Ogawa is a really great person to deal with and their operation is top notch. Do not hesitate in ordering anything from them. My experience has been wonderful. I purchased a Daiwa Smak Red Tune from him last Thursday......

Re: Daiwa Steez Casting rod
In one word....."Underwhelmed" I've had mine for a couple of months and have fished with it quite a bit. The rod is beautiful to look at..wonderful to hold, and casts great. The Hooksets are solid as sin and have no problems handling any fish I've hooked. The thing I noticed immediately when retreiv...

Cleaning exterior of an Alphas-Ito
Curious if anyone has used any particular cleaner or polish on their Alphas-Ito? I just got one yesterday from Ichiban and there is a spot on the underside of the reel on the aluminum sideplate. You have to flip the reel upside down to see it. It appears to be a stain of some sort on the aluminum......

Re: Kistler Rods: Guides and Reel Seats
I notice on my new Kistler LTX, I have to really torque the reel nut down to keep the reel for wiggling in the seat. With Daiwa and Shimano rods, finger tight keeps the reel in place...not sure if this is something unique to Kistler. I have an Alphas on mine..and after doing some reel maintenance an...

Re: Loomis Guys..need some advice
Got a chance to handle the BCR893...what a nice stick. Stiff, but not overly heavy in the hand. I can see that due to it's length..it does act like a dowsing rod...hehehe. Still, this one bears some serious deliberation as an additon to my collection. Now, if I do buy it..what reel will I need to pu...

Re: Loomis Guys..need some advice
Never even considered the 893, Redfisher....hmmm....now that rod looks very interesting..x-fast..so more back bone. I may have to hunt one of these down and shake it few times. Thanks for the tip.
Wonder if it's a stock item in my Bass Pro shop.......

Re: Loomis Guys..need some advice
I'm using 3/8 oz jigs and mostly smaller swimbaits...I'm talking 3"-4" size swimbaits. For frogs, using Gambler cane and Bass pro brand weedless. Carolina-3/8-1/2 oz weight with 4 -6 inch lizards mostly stick with the 4 1/2 inch size lizards. When we have windy days, it's impossible to fish regular ...

Loomis Guys..need some advice
I'm looking at a Loomis BCR series rod for "all around" use. I'm shorebound..so I only grab one rod and go. If I'm fishing light (after a front) I use my Crucial 7' Dropshot...otherwise I grab a rod that will pretty much cover everything...weightless Senko, T-rigged worms, Jig and pig, 3-5" hard Top...

Re: Alphas F 103H
I have a purple Alphas and a TD-Z. To me I like the Alphas a bit better than the TD-Z..palms easier and is much quieter on the cast. The TD-Z really "whirrs" when you cast..the Alphas is much quieter. I really like both reels and switch off between the two...but I'm a bit more partitial to the Alpha...

Swimbait setup and general question.
Local lake has turned off to slow presentations...having to work way too hard to get pickups on Senkos and lizards...so I switched to small swimbaits (3"-4"). Having plenty of action but about 1/3 of the fish that hit come off before I get them to shore. Really starting to annoy me. I'm using a coup...

Re: Best "dog-walk" topwater lure?
Pick up a Lews Speed Pencil at Bass Pro shops and give it a try ....for $2.88. The thing works great. Nice colors and grerat action (looks very much like the Sammy). I know it's not a LC....but for less than $3.00..try one.
