Re: What is Daiwa doing?

The Chronarch used to be a premier reel, poor name just got cheapened to hell over time.

Re: Baitcaster Casting Video

Comes down to the rod build and technique. I just bought two old9 early 1990's pistol gripped glass blanked rods and you can really use the tip to cast without the need to swing the whole rod. That parabolic bend they deliver is just something Graphite / carbon rods can't. I really come to enjoy my ...

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

Now if you want to talk about failure, let’s talk about Daiwas terrible introduction- the T3. That reel didn’t last me very long, what a piece of junk  If that hood was sturdier designed where it had 2 pins holding it to the frame than just one or metal slides than small diameter pins it would...

Re: What is Daiwa doing?

Global platforms, global parts and easy to manufacture and keep track. Gone are the days of the interesting and individual. Im not a Daiwa guy myself, but I would gladly own any from the mid 2000's prior to Magseal when they lasted and lasted and were simply aesthetic and all round beautiful to own....

I was surprised to see him using 1/4 oz, 7g, lures in very small streams.
Smoking gun. Christ I can cast 7gr with 30lb on a 4-7kg 5'8" with an old G / E / K series Curado a fair way
- maybe not with as much flair and overall gentlemanly pizazz...

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

I could see the use of a Ci4+ / Magnumlite baitcaster spool, as long as its tolerable in its design to some reasonable* line pressure it could be a viable option for lightweights.

Re: Do you like ABU reels?

nice collection of round reels Slazmo. what is the one on the far right? An Abu Ambadsadeur Ultra Mag XL 2. Just picked it up randomly one day, quiet interesting a reel however. Keeps a lot of the old world charm with a flair of new age built in. It's that transition between round and low profile w...

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

"This jewel is built on a sturdy, unrelenting diecast aluminum frame, with side plates to match, and its eye-catching blue titanium deposition finish ensures your reel will keep its great looks through many years of hard fishing." Bit like TiO2 drill bits... Probably last a hell of a lot longer than...

Re: Baitcaster Casting Video

Ahh good memories brought back from travelling the northern part of the South Island of NZ, some familiar scenes and Countdown supermarkets "Woolworths" ha ha they were great. Those streams were hard to fish, they run super fast and are icy cold, the river stones also give way under foot and 3 feet ...

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

And most innovations these years were made by daiwa, including the TWS I'd give that to ABU - with their disengaged level wind system, Daiwa just refined / modified it. whos going to make the first titanium reel. Shimano used a Titanium alloy bail wire of some quality on the Stradic FB Ci4+, was su...

You know they only do them every 20 or 25 years or so to keep the exclusivity to them.

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

OMG... What are you? Part-time ''naysayer"? Half-nay? Half-sayer? Meh I like what I like, I tell what I see and happily agree to disagree even with "engineers" - I just tell it how it is, don't sit on your hands or hold back on what you feel... A lot of people hate the truth... When people tell you...

Re: Do you like ABU reels?

Yes, only their round offerings and only before the Pure Fishing takeover.

I've got a few other 1500C & 2500C in storage. Wish I could get them tuned by some of these Japanese blokes I have on my IG...

Re: Titanium Framed reels?

With the firearm build it seems that the rails are embodied deeply and into the FRN* plastic while it's injection moulded around it to make it as secure as possible and whatever parts are attached to it as the rest. Cycling heat through the barrel and the like and how much is absorbed into the grip ...
