Re: Zpi nrc001 m and pg with braid?
Thanks. Thinking of getting a NRC001M to try in a Steez A, and I only run braid (6lb - 40lb). How good was the spool in the Steez TW?

Re: Zpi nrc001 m and pg with braid?
IMO, it shouldn't be a problem with braid over 20lb. Thank you Cracker. Should I worry about thinner braid - which I normally use - with the spool material? I have never owned a Zpi spool before. If thin braid is a problem, I will use mono... You should be fine to use any braid you want as long as ...

Re: SLP Works Steez SV TW
I run a 1012 and a 1016 in my Steez A. Both are great spools for a wide range of lure weights, and the 1012 can handle very light stuff with the right rod (it will a throw a 2.5" Zman grub on a 1/8 jighead about 30-35m with 6 lb Fireline Ultra). Don't own a standard Steez TW, but they are not over-...

Re: gear machining
Seems to be hit or miss with alloy gears. The micro gears in my 13 Metanium developed an annoying 'buzz' very quickly with use, while the alloy gears in both my Steez A reels are liquid smooth after heavy use and dozens of large barramundi. Using a Curado K brass drive gear and a stock pinion in the...

Re: Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?
The braid looks thicker than 0.28mm to me, but I could be wrong. It is notoriously difficult to measure the actual diameter of braided lines. One of the most reliable methods is used on the braid testing thread on Stripersonline. By weighing the mass (M) of a one metre length of braid on accurate sc...

Re: New fireline fused 8 carrier
Ditto. Use it on my Steez A with a Megabass IS spool. No fluffing so far after months of use around oyster covered rocks. No problems with FG knot either.ScoobyDoo wrote:Fished the 6lb on a steez sv tws and an aldebaran bfs

Re: What do you daiwa guys use to bomb lures?
I think the question needs to be re-framed to, how trained is your thumb? I'd start with a Tdz platform, as the magnetic polarity seems to be somewhere between an OG Steez and newer SV reels. Kinda that sweet spot that leaves you with a lot of flexibility in terms of spool drops. For baits between ...

Re: Reviews out on new 2018 Ryoga?
Unfortunately the micro gear set on my 2018 Ryoga HG Left squeals like a pig and there's a noticeable tick on every turn of the handle now after using it once to catch a beautiful 25lb Red. Kazu at Japan Angler said maybe the reel isn't up to the task of a 25# Redfish. I said bull crap if I can fig...

I also saw those results, but found that I get around 78% with the FG in 6lb Fireline 8 and and 12 or 20 lb Schneider klear line leader. FG tied with 18 wraps and a 7 turn Rizutto finish.BRONZEBACK32 wrote:I've read the only decent leader knot for fireline 8 is the PR knot.

Re: Hedgehog Air BFS Bearings
ZRs dipped in TSI 321 are fine for finesse work and are very quiet. I run them in a Steez A with a Megabass IS BFS spool and it will throw a 1/8 oz jighead 35m with the right rod. The ZRs perform very well with TSI and you don't have to keep re-lubing them. Have caught some large saltwater fish on t...

WHich is funny that daiwa steez alu gears are antares level....yet micro module is meh..... Best 50$ i ever sp...

Re: Pinion Frame Hump
It is there to help prevent water from getting on the pinion bearing. Nothing more. On some reels like Metanium MGL that have a bearing on the spool, it is a support for that bearing. For the Curado K and some of our other models, it is only to prevent water from getting on the bearing. This design...
