Re: Bass spinning rods for rock fishing, is that possible?
Hi Wirinhar, You will have no problem using bass spinning gear in saltwater. I live in California and I rockfish with light gear all the time. I use 7' rods rated only 6-12lb and catch plenty of rockfish and the occasional ling cod! I use braid (10lb up to 20 lb) with a fluorocarbon leader and 60 - ...

Omen Green 72H Spinning
I was looking at the Omen Green 72H spinning for some heavier duty freshwater fishing...like frogs and spider jigs. Could this rod handle it? Just curious.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Looking for first megabass rod please help
What knot have you been using on the super slick? I've been using super slick for many years now and have had no issues with knots. I use braid in the ocean and the fish there run much larger than bass lol. Try using the FG knot. I use 30lb super slick to 20lb fluoro. Of course the knot has to be ti...

I too fish the delta and the 893 is my senko rod. I have not lost a fish due to break offs. I use 15lb fluoro and wacky senko. You will not regret getting the rod. I also balance the rod to make it fish better. 893 will handle the light stuff very well.

Re: Advice for a new rod
Thank you all for some ideas. I think the Javelin may be the one I should get. I think there is a Kistler in my future (too many people have said glowing things about it!), but for now, it will be a Javelin. TT crew, you're the best!

Re: Advice for a new rod
Hi Dusty,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take a look at it. The ratings look like what I'm looking for.

Advice for a new rod
Hi, On the occasions that I can only bring a few rods, I usually carry a NRX 893 and a NRX 894. I'm looking for a rod that is in between the 893 and the 894. This rod would be an all purpose rod that could handle senkos, yet stout enough to handle 3/4 spider jigs. Any suggestions? The lakes where I ...

Re: Phenix Feather
Hey robsone79,
For the saltwater stuff, did you happen to get any specs on the Titan jigging rods? I've tried contacting Phenix but no one has responded.
Thanks

Re: $150+- frog rod
I too fish the Delta and my frog rod has always been a Powell 735. Great rods and can pull fish out of the weeds. As a reference, if you've ever fished Whites or Italian Slough, that's the kind of junk I've pulled fish out of. Last year, I added a 13 Omen Black 2 and like that rod a lot, too. It's p...

Re: New Spinning Setup
I am total agreement with the others. Put your money into a good rod. The Powell MH is not a drop shot rod, at least for most of us. When I think drop shot, mostly it's in deep water and with fairly light line (unless I'm on the CA Delta). The Envy is nice, but you could also go 13 Muse Gold, Tatula...

Re: Kidney stones!
So sorry to hear that! I had a stone earlier this year. May 23rd at 8:00 am to be exact. Once you get a kidney stone, you will never forget it. I had to live with it for 5 days before my surgery. I know a guy who told me that he was shot during the Korean War. He said the kidney stone was worse lol....

Re: TATULA 711MHRB Casting Rod?
If I'm not mistaken, the R refers to the taper of the rod. In this case, a regular or moderate taper. These are crankbait actions. I have the TAT701MRB and it's an awesome rod. Light, well balanced and at a good price. Can't ask for more.

Re: Cal's Kistler Z-Bone Review Dated 10/2016
There was the same kind of issue with the review of the St Croix Legend Elite. The specs were posted as 6-12, but that rod does not exist in St Croix's site. On closer inspection, the first picture says "ES70MF". That model is on the site, but it's a spinning rod. Cal definitely is using a casting r...
