Re: Been doing some troutin'!
Hi Call Me Rifle, I will take that kind of fishing any day over fishing in big lakes. Congratulations on a nice catch. May I suggest that you don't kill the big trout. It takes a long time for a stream Trout to grow to five pounds. Catch and release is very important to sustain big Trout populations...

Re: Looking for a light rod - Suggestions?
Hi Tony9, Take a look at Kistler Helium 3 Medium-Light 7'. It is rated for 1/16oz to 3/8oz. I don't have this particular rod but do have one of the Kistler's rated for 1/16oz to 3/8oz KLX rods that is my favorite rod for shallow water fishing. Re: Your go to lure
I like the Senko but they are too heavy for some of my fishing. In those cases I prefer the Zoom Trick Worm.

Re: what line do you use for poppers?
I use 20lb braid with four to six inches of 15lb Flouro. The Flouro keeps the braided line from tangling in the hooks.

Re: Hiking with Fishing Gear
I have hiked and fish in a lot of woods with an 8 1/2' fly rod. The trick is to carry the rod in your hand with the tip behind you instead of ahead of you. You will have a lot less problem with getting the rod hung up.

Re: Traveling with Fishing Gear
I cut this stuff into 12" pieces and use them to protect plugs on rods in the boat.

Re: Storing reel parts while doing maintenance
Hi adam, I suggest you get some of the plastic bins that sit on a shelf. For fishing gear the 71/2" long ones might be a good size. You can get them in all shapes and sizes. You want it big enough to store the frame, handle and other parts you might want to use. This gives you the ability to leave a...

Re: ASSO braid lines, preliminary tests
When you said: "Simple knot to swivel eye", I wondered if the failures were due to the knot more than the line failing. I would be using the strongest knot I could find. Just a thought.

Re: Daiwa Tournament SS Reel
I find the SS to be clunky and heavy. I don't like the way the bail return works. They work and last a long time but I don't like them.

Re: anyone hear of SS Air spool crunching?
There was a problem with using mono with some early reels. The stretch in the line did damage some reels. But that was back in the early 50s. I would be careful if you are using mono on a delicate spool. Braid would be no problem.

It has always been $90 at my Walmart. Still a good rod for that price.

Re: Hook Sharpener?
Hi joeiam8, I have used the same EZY-LAP sharpener since the early 80s. It has never let me down and has never rusted or deteriorated in any way. Just a great compact sharpener that sits in your pocket out of the way till you need it. Frank EZE-LAP Hook Sharpener http://www.wttool.com/common/images/...

Re: best big worm hook?
Hi Nightbite,
I have seen others make the same comment about the Trokar hook points cutting soft plastics. I use Trokars a lot and just don't have that problem at all. Especially with the Trokar 130 Flipping hooks.

Re: best big worm hook?
Hi Nightbite, I am also a fan of the Troakar 130 hook. The keeper does a good job of preventing the bait from sliding down. http://tackletrap.com/iljshg09_cache/9/907729b0095220b782dff2bcb6242c38.image.106x80.jpg I also like the Owner Wide Gap Plus Hook if the worm is big enough around so the bend d...
