Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty
All my fishing buddies and I are right-handed dominant but we are among those "weirdos" that cast with right hand, flip it over and reel with right hand. Personally, I did try to reel with left hand but could not do it. Besides I did not even try to switch over to lefty reel cuz a lot of the b...

Teddy, Your topic "Something costed $200 now stacks up with something costed $500 ten years ago" has some valid point on "certain thing" but definitely not in the fishing reels. * U also need to realize that $500 ten years ago is probably equivalent to $1000 now (inflation and the value loss of the ...

Re: Knots for Braided Line
Another vote for Polomar knot. If I need to tie a fluor leader to my braid, I use double uni.

Re: Sea trout baitcaster recommendations?
Cu-51e and Cu-201e5/7 should be fine for all inshore bay fishing from boat.
If fishing from boat, I would use 6'6" med and med-hvy rods.

Re: lordhell : Feedback Request Topic
I did a trade of a high-end Shimano reel with lordhell before.
The transaction was smooth. Communication was excellent. The reel is good as describe.
I would love to do another trade with him anytime.

Re: Chronarch CI4+ owners, any update?
I have couple PMs asking me the difference between Core 50mg7 and Chronarch 150ci4 so I go ahead and post my opinions here for other members to read as well. There are few differences that I like the Core 50mg7 better. 1) Weight - the Core is lighter (5.5oz vs 6.5oz) 2) Smoothness - the Core cast an...

Re: Stella or VS?
VS definitely better for surf fishing apps.. Stella SW is king of spinning reels on a boat though.. long proven track record for big pelagic fish. I'm with lordhell on this. I owned few Stella and used the 8k SW for surf fishing but I had to be very careful try not to get the surf hit my reel. I ha...

Re: Best inshore low profile baitcasters?
My brothers and cousins have fished inshore, kayak and surf with the Curado E’s for the last 3 years in Hawaii. They do tell me they rinse after every use and do annual maintenance and they have not experienced any issues of rust or corrosion. x2 All my fishing buddies and I have fished in the Gulf...

U40 is pretty good stuff. I applied this to all my Loomis rods with cork handles as well.

Re: Is it Daiwa, Shimano, or someone else?
Well, I spent $369 on the Shimano Calcutta D, and it has major access issues. You have to remove three slotted screws and pry the reel apart (it has loose gears) to access the brake pins or perform routine maintenance. Since I fish in inshore saltwater, the reel proved way too much of a hassle to m...

I have been a hardcore Shimano fanboy for the last 10+ years and still counting.
There are few disappointed models but overall Shimano is still my favorite.

Re: Chronarch CI4+ owners, any update?
Chronarch Ci4 is a big improvement from E series but still one step below Core (specially 50mg7).
I'm not a big fan of the external brake system on the opposite plate of the handle.
Shimano finally brings back the name "Chronarch".
