Re: Daiwa Advantage combo...

You should be fine in a jon w/a 7'6"...I have a 12' jon too and it is no prob pitchin/flippin out of w/a 7'6"...I even chuck big swimbaits with an 8' rod and have landed a few 10lb+ bass out of it.

Re: Good job on the Powell Max rod review

I have been using powell fly rods for years. I cant wait to get my hands on one of the bass rods!! I about fell over when I read that they were gonna start making other rods besides fly!! I might have to go pay them a visit seeing as how they are only about 20 minutes south of me... ;)

Re: Opinions on the Quantum Tour Edition & Energy PT Bur

The TE1170PT's are quite a reel. Built like a tank, fast retrieve, smooth as silk. I own 3 of the tour editions now. The thing I like about them is you can use them for about whatever presentation/lure you can tie onto it. One of them I use as a smaller swimbait (2oz and less) reel spooled with 20lb...

Re: Bass Pro Shops Rick Clunn Signature Series Baitcast Reel

Gear ratio depends on what presentation/tacke you are going to be using. I think a good starting point is 6.3:1. 9.9oz isnt that bad. If you compare it to the 5 oz pixy's or 6oz ito's, then yes that is heavy. IMHO, 9.9 isnt that bad as long as it balaces out on your rod. If it is correctly balanced,...

Re: My fav rigs and swimmie collection...LOTS-O-PICS

Thanks fishinguy!! Yeah the lamiglas/pixy combo is one of my most favorite setups. Absolutly a joy to use for panfish/trout. Here are 2 more I just recently added to my collection. An Energy E30PTi-A and a Conquest 400 on an okuma GS-C-761H. That is my new big swimmie rig. That thing will cast a 10"...

Megabass F4-610XDti w/a Alpha Ito 103Ai spooled with 12lb seagar invisx

These are my 2 most favorites. I adore all my setups, but these 2 are my go to rigs...

Re: how often do you clean and oil your reel?

Every 2-3 trips I put a few drops of hotsauce on the spool bearings, and about every 10-15 trips I tear it down to the frame and clean everything then relube with hotsauce. keeps em nice and smooth...

Re: Check out my new Arrival!!!!

Without a doubt a fine rig! My first boat was a 10' Jon Boat with a 8 Lb. thrust trolling motor! I second that...but mine was 12' with a 27lb thrust troller AND a 9.6 2 stroke... Beautiful rig...I'm still waiting to pull the trigger. But I think if I found a boat like that at that pr...

Re: FISHING LINE for spinning reel...

I use 4lb Seagar Invizx on my Quantum E10PTi, and 12lb Stren Flourocarbon (the blue box, not the gold) on my quantum E30PTia. I have zero complaints so far with ether line...

Makin a standin yabie craw weedless with pics...

This was my first attempt at making these awesome baits weedless. All I used was some stainless leader wire and a crimp, wrapped it through the eye, made a loop on the other end, stuck it in the crimp, and crimped it. i anchored it with some heavier guage leader wire, cause it seemed to slip out fai...

Re: Need Help with Deep Diving Cranking Reel

I agree with kbookert. The 5.0:1 would be too slow in my opinion. Why not look at the Quantum Tour Edtion TE1170PT with a 7.0:1 burner ratio? You can cover alot more water with a faster gear ratio. These are great reels, good enough for me to get 2 of em... ;) 11 bearings, brass gears, ceramic level...
