maxima ultragreen is my goto line. Pline cxx and big game are great as well.
I'm with the hooligan. I toy with and use other lines regularly, but if I had to choose just one Ultragreen is my failsafe.

Re: Fast VS Extra Fast tip

Taper is the trade off of cast accuracy vs control. Fast equates to accuracy, slow equates to control.

Re: Surf Combo

I don’t hit surf as often as I would like but will offer suggestion. Given you’ll throw artificial, go for the longest rod you think you’ll be able to comfortably retrieve. Handling a 12” rod nonstop within cast/retrieve cadence is a job for Superman. It’s ideal for chucking cutbait and all, but it’...

Re: Daiwa Morethan PE SV OR Steez LTD??

Agreed. And it's gorgeous. It is, however, an intriguing dilemma because that Morethan looks rotten sick. Hmm... I'd venture each would be comparably refined within limits of its own design. Both are top end.

Re: Daiwa Ballistic EX Spinning ball bearing questions

Hmm... I don't own that particular model Daiwa, but write to note my experience here at TT is mostly golden. What our editors write is gospel. Unless, of course, they are wrong... It happens to the best. Even I made a mistake once. ONCE... Joking aside, I reviewed Daiwa material (below) and TT revie...

Re: Hedgehog studio bearings

Definitely go with ZR. I personally prefer half shield, for reason stated above. I mount open end spool side. Take a gander at link below and view weight limitation of those Air. http://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product-list/102 Built for finesse they are, small roller, tight race, require cleaning ...

The Morethan 2510PE-H is absolutely worth your time. You'll love it and it's the perfect match.

Re: rod for inshore and river stripers

I feel you, NorthernStrain. Only all too well, in truth... I'm all about Striper, my friend. Any fish, really, but especially Striper. It would help if you suggested a price range you're looking at, but I advise finding a rod rated beyond 1oz to avoid pushing capacity limit. Something MagHvy rated t...

Re: Had to protest my TW charge

I, too, had a bad situation. Ashamed to admit it, but upon taking delivery of a bunch of 20% off goods a couple years back I got busy and didn't notice for an hour or so the rod tube was empty. Called TW who said they would take care of me. Sent two new rods, sure enough, but charged for one so I ac...

Re: What Megabass Lure colors for Clear Water

You mention 'open crystal clear water'. Consider locating the 'Ito Natural' or 'Gill' color and give it a shot. If, however, your water is truly 'crystal clear', as in like 30 foot visibility clear, then maybe work 'Crystal Shad' or the previously mentioned 'Tennessee Shad' or 'Pro Blue'. Yup.

Uhhh, I do... Odds of me buying a rod with the name 'Adolf Hitler' or 'Charles Manson' on it are ZERO.

Re: Crankbait Hook Replacement

If hooks touch, you risk them tangling. Pretty simple. I personally triple shank most my cranks, especially deep divers. Just make sure your equipment is beefy enough to handle it, otherwise risk failing a proper hookset. I believe short shank is appropriate on shallow divers where the smaller lip d...
