Re: Where have all the Full Handle rods gone...

If you're looking for something a little less exotic (what fun is that though?), the new Shimano crucials come in both full and split grip.

Re: 2013Metanium vs Exsence DC

If I had to choose to buy another I would buy another exsence dc It's such a sweet reel but it's on the heavy side but super comfy and casts great and built like a tank I'd have to agree with fishingandfords on this one. If it were my money, and both were equal cost, I'd have a new Exsence DC in my...

Re: knob replacement

Mark, I'm not sure about Quantum's reels, but I'm pretty sure lews reels will accept any Abu and some BPS knobs. Also, if you check out the supertuning and maintenance threads, it seems that Semper Fi tackle has come up with a solution to help you fit Shimano knobs on Abu handles. As for the Chronar...

Daiwa, Shimano, Abu, Lews, OEM third parties....whatever you like is what you should use! My tastes have changed since I joined this board, as have my general outlook on fishing, my skill level, and my frequency of posting. I mostly lurk now, and while I'm nowhere near able to afford some of the gea...

Re: raid transporter rod

I was looking for some info on these as well yesterday. They look like great rods, and I've seen a member or two post pics of a Gladiator series rod they had, but they're hard to find for sale and even harder to find good solid reviews of them. Looking at an old post here on the forums, it was menti...

Where to purchase Raid Japan products?

Anybody know where I can get some of baits and/or rods offered by Raid Japan? I've found some on Rakuten, but wondering if there were any other dealers that carried them and would ship to the US.

Re: Google Finds

Those reels look great, definitely professional finishes. What are your search keywords for these? I've tried to find some more but can't seem to get any good pics.

Re: reel restoration

Most original reel finishes are "proprietary" and therefore not available to aftermarket painters. I'm sure calfish or any other competent painter could get you pretty close, if not spot on, in color, but actual materials used might be different.

Re: Bead or rolling chain swivels?

I usually opt for ball bearing swivels, personally. The only advantage to chain swivels over ball bearing swivels is they are cheaper. You are correct, information on pound test for chain swivels (both bead chain and rolling or barrel chain swivels) is hard to find, and manufacturers don't readily l...

Any shop that carries the cranking rods. They are less expensive than the regular Envy line.

Re: vintage reel seats

That's a Fuji speed fit seat, if we're talking about the same model of lunkerstick. There's a few for sale on Ebay right now, but as for a steady supply, I don't know, maybe fuji might have some NOS?

Re: What's your favorite reel size?

The closest to 30kg I've come with my gear was a 50" bonnethead shark on a Curado 200e. Needless to say, it was a bit undergunned. I got it boated, but it wasn't easy. I'd definitely go for a 300 size if I was looking to catch something that size. For most of the fish I target (bass, redfish, speckl...
