Re: New Review: Shimano Stradic MgF

Good review, Vador. Well-written, clear, and thorough. Nice pics too, JIP. I would've liked a little more information about possible reasons for the unsatisfactory drag eg. composition of the drag washers, size and number of drag washers. A local shop here told me that when he opened up Daiwa and Sh...

Re: Testing the Saltiga

AFter the Saltiga, how about doing a review on the new Daiwa Laguna freshwater spinning reel. A lot of ppl are confused by the number of bb's the Laguna has (7) compared to other reels at the same price or higher. Plus, after reading the review about the Shimano Sedona, it would be nice to see a rev...

Re: Need help choosing Ultralight combo

Bundy,

Check out http://www.japantackle.com for info ab the Caldia. Basically it's a lighter version of the Capricorn at $160. The owner at japantackle, Junn, swears by it so it must be good.

Re: Favorite Watercraft?

Considering that there are many other sites and magazines reviewing boats, I would like to see more reviews about light portable watercraft such as inflatables and innovative watercraft. Many guys even guys with boats, are leaning toward the inflatables for use on local rivers and bays where motorbo...

Re: Testing the Saltiga

Hi Zander, The Saltiga is supposed to be an excellent offshore reel with its hyper tournament drag system, durability, and waterproof gear box. But I was wondering if it has a titanium spool lip, long cast carbon-forged spool, and whether it has a worm gear system. I noticed that you also reviewed t...

Re: Need help choosing Ultralight combo

Glad you liked the capricorn vs stradic writeup. For an ultralight combo on a moderate budget, i think the fenwick AV is really good. It's got a fast tip, aramid veil on 100% graphite, and its pretty light. I think it feels great esp for fishing for brownies, steelhead, and rainbows. In terms ...

Re: Great idea guys

Hi Zander,

I would also like to suggest a section about manufacturer's recalls ie. the recent Quantum Catalyst PTi recall ab the anti-reverse. Overall this information is hard to find and the manufacturers don't seem to be honest in listing their recalls.

Great idea guys

Nice forum setup guys. i've enjoyed your tackle reviews over the last couple months and even purchased a number of reels based on your reviews. 2 suggestions to make your site better: 1. on the left side of your homepage, you have a best reviews section and it seems at first that it is the best revi...

Daiwa Capricorn better than new Stradic FH

From numerous posts I have read on the internet and especially from Junn, the owner of japantackle.com, it is clear that the capricorn is superior to the new Stradic FH 2003 and esp the mgf Stradic. The mgf has less features than the new Stradic overall except that it is lighter. The mgf doesn't hav...
