Re: 2020 a year in review ...

Fall fishing in southern NJ has been terrible. My go to lake is drawn down for repairs to the spillway and I can't get the boat in. All the other lakes I've been fishing this fall never had a hot bite. The fish never schooled up and put on the feed bags. It was one here, one there, with no real patt...

Re: Light BFS or ML rod for finesse.

Another vote for Phenix K2 C713ml. I've used mine for a season now and love it for small jerkbaits, wacky rigged 4" Senko's, 3" tubes, Keitech 4" Easy Shiner, and light texas rigs. I have a custom built on a K2 blank and liked it so much, I bought the 683ML. I have a Steez CT SV on mine and use 8LB ...

Re: Finesse spinning rods.. What's your first choice?

Megabass Hedgehog 2015 F4st-69RSDti is my favorite spinning rod. It's very sensitive with an ultrasoft tip. It works great with bottom and moving light baits. My second favorite is NRX 822 DSR but it's more of a one trick pony than the Hedgehog.

Re: NRX 894

I don't use any sort of counter balance. I have a SV103 on mine. I'm one of the few who is not bothered all by the balance of the 894. I've pitched 1/2 oz jigs with craw trailer for hours at a time and do not have an issue with my hands or wrists getting tired.

I wear flip flops most of the time and really like Olukai. I have several pairs.

A Honda Civic and a Porsche will both get you there. I Porsche is a heck of a lot more fun to drive though.

Steez Bottom Contact. I've been looking at it for a while now.

It also helps keep the filler in the cork.
This is the main reason I use it as it keeps the filler in place.

Re: I don't use spinning gear at all. Do you?

Sure do. I have 2 spinning setups. I use them mostly for drop shot and small keitechs. Although I have BFS setups that can handle these weights, I like spinning rods for these. Also, small tubes work better on a spinning rod because I can get the lure to drop straight down.

Re: Best rod to pair with Steez CT ?

I have one paired with a MB X7 Super Eiger with 8lb flouro. I throw a 4" senko a lot on it but its also great for small texas rigs. I have a 2nd paired with a custom rod (medium power) that is used for jerkbaits. I have a 3rd paired with a Phenix K2 medium light that I have been using for smaller je...

Re: Nrx 852c jwr

I mostly use mine for dragging tubes with a 1/8 oz jighead, weightless flukes, and jerkbaits. Sometimes I will throw texas rigs with 1/8 oz weight and a finesse worm. It's definitely an open water rod. For 3/16 or 1/4 oz Texas rigs, I use an 893 NRX.

Re: The most important setup-your truck and rig

No pics but I have a 2006 Bass Cat Puma (20'5") and I pull it with a 2018 F150 3.5L Ecoboost. I purchased the boat new for $47K and the truck new for $53K. It's my dream setup and I'm lucky to have it. I'm 49 and married but have no kids so plenty of money to spend on toys.

Re: What is your go-to Jackhammer/Cricket trailer?

Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3.8 to 4.8 all year. It's mostly due to the high level of continence I have using them. I'm sure many other trailers work well too.

Re: Is the spawn the best time of year to catch your new PB?

I catch my biggest bass of the year in early spring before the spawn when the water is in the low 50's. My personal best is 7.25 and was caught in NJ the last week of March on a cold rainy day with water temps around 50 degrees.

Re: Rods you bought for one technique that you weren't thrilled with initially ...

MB X4 Destruction. I bought it for punching mats. When I received it and put a reel on it, I was so un-impressed, I almost sold it. One day I tied on a 1/2 oz chatterbait. After hooking my first bass over 4 lbs that morning, I realized how well it works for moving baits. The softer action keeps them...
