To the OP, Don't sweat the small stuff! I'll admit I've never fished with a Dobyns rod but I am sure they are nice rods. Every G.Loomis rod I've tried. You can find rods half the price, with better sensitivity and better components. Agree with you 100% on the factory rods. But custom builds on their IMX and GLX blanks can come close to some others. We're basically paying a premium based on their name and past history.
