Re: Product Insight : Zillion TWS a.k.a. Tatula Z?

Can you swap the main gear, pinion gear, and spool between the two models? IE swap in the 9.1:1 main gear, pinion, and a zillion spool or does the cast control cap style prevent that? No because there are differences as to how the frame on each reel receives the spool as well. As I recall, this art...

Re: Product Insight : Zillion TWS a.k.a. Tatula Z?

Did Daiwa ever actually say that or was it just assumed because of a different name? It's our understanding that the Zillion TWS was explained to the company's sales reps as a new platform. Really great article! So does this mean that with a relatively cheap gear change we can fit a standard tatula...

Re: Cal's review of the TWS Zillion confirmed what we feared

I feel the review was a bit skewed. He kept comparing it to the TDZ. Yeah, they do share the zillion name but they are completely different reels. I think it would have got a better score if it was called something else. He only mentioned the TDZ in the first paragraph, the rest is comparison to th...

Re: Flipping Week : Orochi Double X Aaron Martens Special!

Wow, the XX compares to the Edge rods. I'd imagine they would be a tad better than the DX series then. Thanks!

Re: Flipping Week : Orochi Double X Aaron Martens Special!

Sensitivity wise would you say the XX's you have fished are more sensitive than a Dobyns DX?

Weird, I've never had this issue.

I will say it is very difficult to skip, the soft body wants to hook itself all the time.

Re: Goin' for a Walk with the Jackall Iobee Frog

One of my new favorite frogs. Excellent hookup ratio without having to touch the hooks with a set of pliers. Doesnt take on water as bad as my Koppers. I havent had any issues with the hooks causing me to hang up in trees and brush, but they do collect a bit of scum from time to time. It does sit VE...

Re: Gear up for a Full Day with the Simms Headwaters Backpac

I use the Simms Headwaters Chest/Hip pack and use it more like a satchel. It holds my Rapala touch screen scale, a small Plano with terminal tackle, 15 bags of plastics, a jar of scent, pliers, a 1 liter water bottle, and then I keep various jigs, frogs, cranks, etc in the front hook holder compartm...

Re: A Little Voodoo Goes a Long Way when Fishing the Columbi

Thanks Teal101, fixed the spelling. Was a really cool stretch of water. Love the salmon and steelhead fishing you guys have up there, absolutely beautiful country. You guys really got into them good. The fishing is usually spectacular on the lower stretch of the Columbia and its tribs. The upper st...

Re: A Little Voodoo Goes a Long Way when Fishing the Columbi

Well written, right in my backyard. I met Jon at the Puyallup Sportsman show this last February. Great guy, he recognized the Hi's Tackle Box logo on my Simms jacket. I got to play around with some of their rods then, would love to get a few for Steelhead. BTW, it is spelled Klickitat, you're missin...

Re: Regaining His Edge : Bass Rods by Gary Loomis

I'll probably stick to the NFC blanks so I can run full Fuji SiC guides and matagi parts. If he does make them without REC, I'll consider a production rod.
