Re: Which types of hooks do you prefer J, circle, offset, ka
I use both circle and j type hooks. Mostly circle when fishing the surf. I use the j style hooks when fishing for those picky fish that are likely to spit the bait . That way I can set the hook before they get a chance. i often set the hook on circle hooks. Afler the fish has the bait and is running...

Port Isabel Texas report. 3/27
The brother in law and I made it to Port Isabel about 10.00 am saturday. I wanted to hit one of my favorite spots ( the turning basin) first to see if any specks were there. The wind was suposed to be 15 to 20 but I think they missed it by about 10 mph. It was blowing straight in to the basin where I...

Re: Surf Spikes
When I get back from my little trip I may try putting some up for auction.I was thinking of putting them up in pairs. And have them be around 5 feet long.I will have to find out where the shipping cost jumps at. It is somewhere around 5 feet but I'm not sure.

Re: Port Mansfield Texas report Sun 22nd
Well I always like to give reports that tell what I was thinking, what i saw, felt, heard and went on during the trip. Not just the standard " caught this on that at this place" report. A fishing report should tell a story not just the end result. Yes that is the Fina that i won on this site.I figur...

Port Mansfield Texas report Sun 22nd
Once again we waited until the last minute to decide the weather would be nice enough to go take the kayaks out and do a little fishing. At 8:30 am NOAA said it would be southeast winds at 10 to 15, with a light to moderate chop on the bay. Partly cloudy and 72 for a high. Sounded good so after I got...

Re: Surf Spikes
If you put them in the ground far enough they will stay.Your drag should go off or the line break before they pull out. I make my own PVC spikes and if they are used in sand I have a trick to setting them deep in the ground.

Re: Port Mansfield Texas 2/17
Yea I think the army uses the slogan. I told them it would be alright to use it as long as they didn't abuse it. LOL I have a drift sock and an anchor. I use a 2 lb rubber coated dumbell from walmart. I drilled a tapped a 1/4-20 hole in the end of it and screwed a stainless I bolt in it.They cost 1....
