Re: Dobyns Extreme Cast Rod 7' ML 702 vs. St. Croix Legend X

The dobyns 703 will have a softer tip than the croix but same power in the butt of the rod as mentioned before. That is going to be the rod most comparable to your croix the 702 will be very noticeable in action.

Re: YOUR favorite jerkbait stick

Sounds like a good one its hard to find that compromise of give in a rod that will work the bait properly but still have a good landing ratio.

Re: Curado from Shimano to read

my local gander mountain had some citica es on their brand of rods selling as a combo for 80 something dollars? I asked the guy if he had any of the reels left without the rod and he had a few of the citica es and he sold it for 65$. i bought the reel, crucial cranking rod and seagar fluro for it an...

Re: YOUR favorite jerkbait stick

at that time i had a Revo s first gen model 6:3:1 with 10lb vanish fluro. Do not go this route lol. The vanish would seem to rot after three weeks and the revo s although a good reel didnt like casting the lighter baits. Despite my user name i currently own all shimano reels, and really like the cor...

Re: YOUR favorite jerkbait stick

That's funny you have that gold rod that was my first rod in the higher price range when I started getting heavy into bass fishing I found it to be a great all around stick. The rod was surprisingly great for jerkbaits !! The only negative thing about that rod was due to the xtra fast tip I felt I l...

Re: CI4+/Core/Metanium..

I have all three of these reels I've owned the cores the longest amount of time and they are great reels never had a problem with them. Just got the ci4 and metanium and they are also great reels, both of them being really good casters and they both handle lighter baits as well. My favorite is the m...

Re: Those of you with a XX Extreme Mission...

I have that rod and it would be good for what your wanting to use it for. It is ideal for 3/8 oz baits and up. I've not thrown 1/8 oz on mine but with the paddle tail should work out just fine the rod has a true fast tip to me. It's not overly fast and faster than med fast with a good amount of back...

Re: Megabass Double X Versatility

I was in the same question myself. I talked to Gary/bronze fly about megabass and he very knowledgeable about the rods. I bought the extreme mission type f xx. It's 7'5" 5 power fast action and I can say it is a versatile rod. The thread for the guides are dark green. This particular rod has a softe...

Re: help picking a jig rod

I have used the dx 703 and it works well for what you described. It has a softer tip to it so I would not go over 3/8 you can but I would go to a Robyn's 4 power. I personally fell in love with the NRx 853 as small jig / skipping rod. I have not used the 854 except in the glx. The NRx has a better h...

Re: DOBYNS guys

Mine would have to be dx 745 chronarch d7 I've used that combo for a ton of stuff from pitching jigs, large t rig worms, football jigs, smaller swim baits, and frogs its a very versatile rod. I had two of those combos and a dx744 with d7 which did just as much fish catching with smaller jigs and spi...

Megabass destroyer phase 3 help

Hi guys I'm new to the board. I just bought an orchii xx extreme mission type f from tackle trap and am very happy with the purchase. I'm ready for a jig rod for fishing moderate cover and wanted to know about the 6'11" bearing down? Has anyone had any experiences with this particular rod and fishin...
