Re: Core 50 gear swap on Chronarch 50 question

I have been using these gears in my Curado 51's for a few years now in the salt and they have worked great. Very smooth, powerful and durable. Depending on what you are gonna use it for it is a great swap. Been using mine for jerkbaits, topwater and pitching jigs mainly. As far as weight goes, when c...

Re: D&M Beast Bladed Jigs

Thanks again for the tips John, tried it out yesterday and it worked great. Those hyper wires are awesome. It's funny, I used to buy expensive reels and mid level rods for the most part. Last year I made the change and started buying more high dollar rods and mid level reels. My Chronarch Ci4's can ...

Jackall Break Blade

To start off, I am a chatterbait freak, fish these year around and am always looking for the next cool jig to try. Have seen 1 post on this forum regarding these but no one had tried one. Ordered a few of these and I am really excited to try them out. Jackall makes some quality lures and these are n...

Re: Finding Inductor Springs

I would look at a hobby shop such as Hobby Lobby. They have lots of small hardware pieces for RC use that also work in reels. Not sure about these exact springs but its worth a shot. Good luck.

Re: D&M Beast Bladed Jigs

That's a great tip for sure. I noticed the hook sat in the split of the split ring and although it hasn't caused a problem yet it did bother me. I have some hyper wires that I use on my x-raps for fishing in the salt. I believe they are the size you recommended. I will try them out. I thought about ...

Re: D&M Beast Bladed Jigs

I use a keitech fat impact in the 3.8 and 4.8" sizes on the 4/0 hook and it looks to fit well. Thanks. Haven't got around to fishing the Keitech on it yet but I think I will try it out next trip. John, thanks again for the info on these. They are awesome jigs for sure. Fishing down in the hydrilla ...

Re: Which Shimano shallow cranking reel?

I use either Core 101 or Chronarch CI4+ on my shallow crank rods and they both work very well but I like the Chronarch a little more. Very smooth and powerful when burning BDS 3 and can cast light cranks far. Also throw 3/4 spinnerbaits and chatterbaits on this reel and theres no loss of torque. Thi...

Re: Confirmation on gear swap

Bantam,
I have heard the drag washer recommended before but didn't order it when I did the swap. Used it for years with no issues but just wondering the reason for needing to change them. Thanks

Re: Curado 201i HG Vs Rain = Bad Results

Check the Anti Reverse bearing. Rain may have washed out any lube it had causing surface rust and it will feel rough when turning the handle if this is the case. I fish in the rain often and this has happened a few times in the past. Definitely sounds like a warranty claim though.

Re: How to walk a frog and what frog walks the best?

Snap the rod back and forth and maintain slack. If the frog is just popping forward you do not have enough slack in the line in my experience. The spook walks easier with less slack. It took me a few days of constant practice to get my reeling rhythm, rod rhythm, and proper slack right. I can almos...

Koppers have worked the best for me. The Boze Sumo frog is a close second. That Owner frog hook usually sticks them good.

Re: TSI 321 question

I frequently use TSI 321 on SS bearings. My process is a little different for its use. I use a piece of piano wire with a hook on the end and place the bearing on it, lower it into the can and shake it gently letting the bearing soak in as much of the TSI 321 as possible. I then take the bearing an...
