With today's advancements in polymers, I doubt weather will play any greater role in these vs standard metal bearings. I am more interested in seeing how these hold up vs a traditional reel from Daiwa or Shimano.

I have noticed the micro modules due tend to roughen up over time. I suspect the aluminum has something to do with it, but I wonder if maybe grease is needed more frequently due to the design of the smaller teeth.

These ten foot rods are perplexing to me. I can see the benefit of them, but they will be a hassle to actually handle when not fishing. The irony is that most japanese rods are barely 7' and they seem to get by ok.
