Re: A couple questions for zillion users

I owned both and the Zillion is a much more solid reel. No sweat on load. The power is just there. The Curado is no slouch either, but the gear noise is annoying under stress. Feels like a toy. Sounds like a toy. You will pay for the Zillion, but it's like the next best thing to a full-aluminum roun...

Re: Chronarch 50MG

With an external cast control and near-identical build as the USDM Chronarch 50mg, the JDM Shamano Scorpion 1000mg is often overlooked.
I missed my chance to score one of those new at a reasonable price a while back. But I year ya'

Re: Ultimate Punching Braid

I just happen to have some 65 Sufix Perfromance Braid on my Z2020 so I'll give it a try and compare it to the Sonic and 832. Didn't even think about SPB. If 65 can break then 80 sounds like a food idea. Is the 65 breaking due to the weight of bass and salad or the 80 is more abrasive resistant. I'm...

Re: Best braid for finesse spinning

Depends on how finesse you're talking about. I've been using Power Pro 5lb microline in yellow for panfishing and it works great. I spend more time fishing than re-tying, especially dipping for crappies in timber. I just pull gradually and the jig head straightens out. Before, I would break off and ...

Re: DAIWA ZILLION Differences ????

The Advantage HSTA handle does comes stock with 4 bearings. Amazing, right? Actually, I'm trying to find a used one for dirt cheap just so I can get the handle and put it on a U.S. Zillion. That is exactly what I did on my Conus Zillion. Swapped the handles from my 153HSTA. Definitely smoother IMO....

Re: Congrats to all who bought the E series curado cheap

There is a possibility that a supply chain disruption to keep pace with reel demand may have played a factor. Not to mention shortage in materials in the factors of production and unfavorable exchange rate. It may have been the best alternative. Still sucks that the price increased by $20 and lackin...

Re: Reeling Demographics... are you a righty or lefty

I'm left handed. I write with my left hand. That's the hand that I use to hold the rod with and I retrieve with my right hand. I'm fortunate to have all the models and gear ratios.

Re: 2011/12 New Daiwa Rods

I think this new series of rod aimed at the mainstream fishermen will be very popular. Color scheme is very nice and a perfect match for the T3-Ballistic - well it was designed for the T3-Ballistic.
As long as they don't use pastel colors, I'll be okay. :D

Re: what powell?

Nothing wrong with a 7 footer. I've been using the 704C for four years now and it's held up very well. It is a very fine jig rod. It handles 3/8-3/4oz jigs well. It can double as a frog rod or a light flippin stick in a pinch and has a lot of power. It's one of my trustworthy rods that always makes ...

Yum Dinger F2

Anybody else notice that the action on the F2 version is not the same as the old? It feels harder and doesn't shimmy as much. This morning, I caught 4 bass on my last Senko (whacky style w/ o-ring) and then had to resort to the Dinger F2. I didn't do so well after that. I guess you just can't imitat...

Re: St Croix LE 7' MH

I would love to pick up the new Croix LE, but I really really really dislike the double trigger handle. Hurts my finger bones when I set the hook.
I have the brown blank version and it is superb. I can imagine the new blanks perform equally or better.
