Re: Black Friday is drawing near!

I called in within 30 minutes  Got a new Loomis GL2 crank rod, some rapalas, some rat-l-traps, p-line, those new vmc spinshot hooks, weights, tackle boxes and the last Gill Inshore Light jacket in size L Blue   Went to a local shop today that was giving out gift cards at the door....

Re: Ultra Ultralight

The TKLSG guides look nice. On my latest, went 20, 12, 8, fly 6 and then 3 3.5 micros. 4 micros would have worked but that configuration did not look right to me. My grips are usually the same, except for something top secret I am trying, cork tennessee style, 9 inches in length and 15/16 OD. I jus...

Re: Ultra Ultralight

This Yumeya spool is 40mm OD. Hope your build works out for you. If you get your hands on any Fuji TKLSG Titanium frames can you compare them to the TATSG? My plan was to run the first two guides as TKLSG's then to TATSG's then to TLSG's all Titanium framed. My rod is 7'-3" so my schedule will prob...

Re: Ultra Ultralight

A final note on rod building and forgive me if this sounds like splitting hairs. A Fuji TYSG 25 weighs 45 grains, titanium frame. A Fuji TATSG 20 weighs 24 grains, titanium frame. My old schedule of 25, 16 and 10 weighs 60 grains. Finish with three 7s weighs 9 grains. My new schedule of 20, 12 and ...

Re: Glass or graphite for cranking?

I have a shimano compre TC4 cranking rod. It's a great rod, pretty sensitive, plenty of back bone. It's getting old so I have a new G.Loomis GL2 crank rod on the way.

After some reading I found it is not going to be a lefty, at least for now, and the price tag will come in around $500.

Re: Ultra Ultralight

Blank at .94, SK2 at .6, EVA is heavy, guides, thread and finish, to end uo at 1.9 ozs will be a challenge. Only a suggestion, minimize the grips, in cork, and weigh your titanium frame SICs against a set of TATSGs, 20, 12, 8, finishing with micro guides and tip. The SK2 is not as light as some peo...

Re: Ultra Ultralight

My goal for my new setup is to be under 7.5 oz. With the Pflueger Patriarch at 5.6oz that gives me plenty of room for the rod. Will be using a Fuji SK2 reel seat, Fuji Titanium SiC guides, EVA split grips, and a .94oz blank. :D

It's a fun addiction thats for sure.

Re: Daiwa Crazy Cranker or Shimano Chronarch 201E

almost all my reels are shimano, but I HATE the curado E for moving baits. They make too much noise and my head reads that as vibration I feel on retrieves. I don't even like how the E casts for that matter. I'm guessing this was not fixed in the Chronarch E, so I'd have to go with the Crazy Cranke...

Re: New G.Loomis GL2 Crankbait Rod

I stick with the D series for ergonomic reasons. I have huge hands and it palms better then the E series and other low pro bait casters. It is a heavy old pig of a real, but its SLOWWWW and reliable as hell.

Thanks for the input

New G.Loomis GL2 Crankbait Rod

Anyone got their hands on one? I've got an old Compre thats 4 years old and showing some real wear. Thinking about rebuilding it myself, or just stepping up and getting one of the new GL2's. Never owned a Loomis before. I dont have any place close where I can get my hands on one either ](*,) Looking...

Re: Quantum Smoke for salmon?

Revo Toro HS :D I use my Curado 201E, 201DPV, or my Abu Record 61HC for salmon/steelhead.

Don't let the Steely nazis catch you lifting that wild one out of the water and releasing it. Fat ticket.

Re: How come no one talks about the Abu Revo SC...

That is a neat looking reel. I like how Abu does lots of special or one off kind of reels, like their Millennium series rod/reel combos and their laser engraved C3's. Wish they made em in left hand!

Re: HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE?

Personally I think it's a pretty kick ass lookin reel. :big grin: And if it preforms, what's a complain about? That's what you get when a company doesn't shift make there reels cheap in some crap hole country (pretty much anywhere but America and some places in Europe). I'd feel great paying every ...
