Re: Steez SV 103H ticking/clacking sound when casting
When casting? Is it towards the end of the cast and only one clack? You might be hearing the inductor seat against the spool. If its multiple ticks felt on the cast but no "clack" noise then its possibly a non handle side spool bearing issue. If it's when cranking on the handle then it is the play ...

Re: Steez SV 103H ticking/clacking sound when casting
The pinion should not be engaged when casting. I would check the palm side spool bearing first since you already swapped spools with the same result. I checked that bearing. It appears to be good and doesn't make the clacking sounds when I disengage the reel and spin the spool by hand. I think the ...

Steez SV 103H ticking/clacking sound when casting
Anyone familiar with this issue? I swapped the spool from another 103H and the issue was still present. I don't think it's a bearing issue. Has anyone had this same issue and as been able to diagnose the issue? It literally only makes the sound when casting and I've tried adjusting tension knob, les...

Met 13 Idle Gear question
See photos. There doesn't look like there's anything securing the idle gear and it falls out quite easily if I tried to remove it. Is this normal? Looking at the schematics there doesn't seem to be anything securing it. I know with the Main gear sitting over it will prevent it from falling out. Is t...

Re: Megabass X7 7'1 Aaron Martens
I have two of them. Can do frogs but I use mine for some of everything Buzzbaits pitching in the pads swimjigs , casting jigs After my first one I knew I had to have another It’s not too heavy in my opinion but I have Steez ex’s on both of them It’s a rod for heavy cover or lighter line like 30lb b...

Megabass X7 7'1 Aaron Martens
Can anyone chime in on this rod? Planning to purchase for frogging/heavier jigs 1/2oz+. How does it fish, more true fast taper? Tackle tour review says a little tip heavy? Sensitivity?

Re: Were the newer Megabass Orochi XX and XXX a failure?
I don't know... I heard the Orochi x4s were subpar too. I agree with your overall assessment though. The XX like isn't very good compared to other offerings at the 280-350 price point. I thought the USA Gen 1s were good. They had the best reel seats Imo. I've only owned the 1st gen flatside special ...

Re: Steez AGS 76mml old vs new
Pretty big difference in my hands but I sold them both. The old was heavier and slightly more parabolic and the blank did not recover as quickly as the new one. Can't go wrong with the old one but the new one is dare I say, better in every way. I never had an issue keeping fish pinned with trebles ...

Re: Okuma Hakai
Don't sleep on Okuma. They make great reels. Their entry level baitrunners is good. The komodo is amazing for musky fishing and is built like a tank. I owned the old Okuma Serrano low profile reel (green one) and it was one of the furthest castings reels I've owned. I've only stopped buying them bec...

Re: NRX+ 822 DSR vs Steez AGS Med Lt Finesse Game Special
I currently use a 1st generation NRX 822 DSR and am looking to replace it with the NRX+ or Steez AGS Finesse Game Special. Has anyone used both of these rods? How do they compare in terms of sensitivity, power, and action? Is one more comfortable than the other? Don't have the old DSR or the Steez ...

Re: NRX+ or Steez Bottom Contact II?
Gloomis is still king with it comes to bottom contact IMO. Though the new Steez AGS rods are very sensitive but the feel of bumping a rock or getting a bite is drastically different. I could differentiate certain types of cover much better with an NRX than with a Steez AGS. The NRX has that hollow ...

Re: Megabass price increase
Shimano's going to increase in price in February too so nothing changes. I own a lot of MB rods in my time but am always left expecting more from the ones I've gotten rid of. The ones I've kept have exceeded my expectations. They're still rods in the MB lineup that Shimano has no answer for. For exa...
