Re: boating tip cheap
Heck, I like goggles too. Especially on cooler days they keep my eyes from tearing up.

If you decide to go with an 8.1:1, definitely consider the Metanium XG

Re: Phenix K2 715C: Aldebaran 50HG or 13 Metanium HG/XG
I put a Microcast shallow spool in my Met and really feel like I have the best of both worlds...just something to think about. That's a good thought, I honestly didn't think of that. I wasn't as concerned with the casting weight, since my Recon2 version of the rod bottoms out at about 1/4oz, but mo...

Re: Falcon rods.
They are very nice rods. I have a Bucoo and an original Low Rider, I used to have a Cara which now resides at the bottom of a lake  ... Reviews are overwhelmingly positive and they have a fiercely loyal customer base. They'll never be the darlings of the enthusiast crowd, but if that's what d...

Re: Need suggestions on a spinning rod!
I may have missed it, but have you stated what your desired application is for this rod? That might help identify the best for you. I am looking for something between 6'8 med and 7ft med.Probably be for weightless t-rigs,weightless senkos(under 5 inch),and some dropshot. The NRX 822 DSR is possible...

Re: Dobyns DX vs G. Loomis NRX vs Kistler KLX
K2 is sensitive but too brittle. Had two custom rods that both broke. Blank did not break in one place but shattered. Get the NRX. I have several DX's and they are awesome for the 200 I spent on them new. My two new customs rock pretty hard and compete with the NRX. Shattered how? On a hookset? Cas...

Re: NANOFIL HATERS
I guess I am just lucky, I have had great results with 10 pound nanofil with 8 pound InvizX. I will say I am meticulous about my knots though. I do an Albright with 20 wraps each way.

Re: What setup am I missing?
I know I can't speak for everyone, but I am a huge fan of G Loomis, particularly the NRX line. I don't know of any rod in the US or JDM that is more sensitive than the NRX line. They are light and have a very fast tip. Don't try one unless you are ready to buy it.... Good luck

Re: Falcon rods.
Every falcon I have had is a great rod. The Caras are excellent for their price point. Additionally, they are a great company that stands behind their stuff. I am not sure why they aren't more known.

Re: 1 Wt Fly Line
You still wNt a decent leader to turn it over. I would plan at least a 7ft leader that tapers to 5x connected to the fly line via nail knot. Then you can attatch the tipper with your choice of knot.

Re: Fly Fishing Yellowstone
You picked a great time of year. The big fish are hitting hoppers in the meadows and there is nothing better. Look at a list of rivers and go to the one you have never heard of. Chances are no one else will have heard of it either and the fishing will still be amazing!
