Re: Favorite rod action for UL
I guess that I try to match the type and nature of the UL fishing that I'll be doing at the time. That doesn't always work out, so my default has been trending over the years from a a slow or moderate action to one of a fast action. That may be that the nature of the tackle has changed over the year...

Re: New ultralight rod
I tend to agree with Bryin, I have used and still own G. Loomis, Temple Fork, St. Croix, old and older Fenwicks, but I have really been impressed with the JDM rods and especially a new rod that I recently purchased based upon a review on this board - the Major Craft Basspara 6-6 UL. This is one of t...

Re: Need some specific advice on a ultralight baitcaster
I went ahead and have an older model Pixy on the way to me, courtesy a friend overseas. I really don't have problem with older proven technology, oftentimes they turn out the best. That's why their proven. My favorite ultralight spinning reels are the Daiwa SS700, which is like a 30 years old design...

Need some specific advice on a ultralight baitcaster
Guys; I need some information/help. I've already searched the website, and have some need of some "current" information concerning ultralight baitcasters. I have a specific need for a light-weight (in terms of actual mass) for an ultralight baitcaster that has reasonable line capacity. The reel need...

Re: ultralight nymph trout fishing
How big a bobber are you using? The bobber really isn't a bobber - for my use it's a fly rod strike indicator. When fishing low water with a float a nymph/jig, even down to the 14/16 size, using ultralight gear, it's easier for me to use the spinning gear instead of a fly rod. I can cast better and ...

Has anyone purchased from this website - UL Spinning
Found this website: It is a Uk website, specializing in ultralight tackle. They offer some lure brands and lines that I haven't found to be easily available in the US. I really like the looks of the BullHead jigs - http://ulspinning.co.uk/epages/06883bfc-cfa8-40d...

Re: Favorite Topwater Bait
The scarcity of the old Creek Chub Ultralight series lures is one reason why I have never mentioned it before. But I have seen some "beater" lures where the finish is gone, some of them with significant "worm burns". For those "younguns" older plugs were made of plastics and finishes that reacted po...

Re: Favorite Topwater Bait
Even though there pretty pricy and I've been told the lure has been discontinued, one of the best top waters I've found is the Yo-Zuri Tiny Tip. I carry two colors, one gold and one silver. They cast well, not too heavy for the lightest spinning tackle and not too light for my light-weight bait cast...

Re: PANTHER MARTIN STARTS USING CHEAPER,DIFFERENT SPINNER B
I hope that Harrison-Hoge is not "farming"out the Panther Martin. Actually, i hav not been able to get the type and weights of PM from Panther Martin - US for some years now. I have taken to ordering from Panther Martin Canada. Hope the cheaper blades are just a one time shot, and Harrisons is just ...

Re: Are spinning reels becoming obsolete in bass fishing?
Guys I've been using spinning reels since I was 7 and baicasters since I was 10, so I have some perspective on application. No answers but a perpective. I've also used the "wrong" type of reel for an application in that I collect and specialize in ultralight baitcasters and have used Spinning reels ...

Re: The table of Bearings applied in fishing reels
Vladamir are you looking for a site that shows what bearings fit which reels? Try these two sites www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=docs&id=10 http://www.vxb.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=Fishing-Reel-Bearings and you can look here on Jun;s Japan Tackle website for some of the...

Shtuka: I have both of Holden's books, and the first of his videos. He was one of the very first Brits to bring European Pendulim casting the the US in the 80's. As it stands now, his presence on the interent is pretty much limited to selling a DVD, which from what I understand cannot be gotten in a...

Re: Grease & Oil, Just oil
Using just oil on everything is a mistake. Also most reel manufacturers do use grease to quiet down reels, but only to a very limited extent. And maybe quieting down is the wrong phrase. Someone mentioned that you want grease on anything that is exposed to load, this is critical, in some ways you co...

Re: Long-distance cast by one arm
UL: IMHO, you'd have to be pretty coordinated to be able to cast that hard. i like you seem to get pretty distances with UL spinning stuff, and within reason the longer the rod, the greater the distance. Do you find that your casting motions are the same for spinning and baitcasting tackle? Vladamir...

Re: which line is better???
Rojo: How much of your line selection is governed by the places you fish? I have noticed that a LOT of saltwater fisherman's default line has been Big Game for years, with a lot going to XL as second choice. BTW, among NC inshore fisherman the Sufix lines are taking over and among surf fisherman Suf...
