Re: Microcast spool vs real bfs reel

Dominik, I don’t know about your particular reel, as I don’t have one. I don’t have a Tailwalk rod, either so still no help I do have the Kuying Teton 522UL, which is the rod your asking about. I also have a MC FineTail, which may be similar to your existing rod. I like the little 522, as it works v...

Re: YouTube EnjoyFishing !!!!

I think people may not think about relative weights vs wind resistance. A spoon my weight 3/16 of and ounce or a balsa plug weigh the same, but there is a considerable difference between the “castability” of the two lures. For most people even with spinning tackle accuractly casting a #5 Flotaing Ra...

Re: $100 china UL BFS combo

At least when the6 were actually new the ?Black Max had less than stellar drags to be charitable. However, you can find drag washers that markedly improve the drags.

Re: $100 china UL BFS combo

I’m curious, for over 40 years, or least until recently, it was assumed with a light tackle reel, much less an UL reel, that the factory drags are less than great, matter of fact for really light lines are terrible. Thankfully, it’s relativley easy to replace the factory sub-standard drags with new ...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

I know a lot of people love the litte trout jig, however I find the hook the problem, as I like even an UL jig to have a bigger gap. My Kuying Teton 522 does well with nymphs, a small 1/32 oz jig with the Barbarian hook (comaritivly huge gape) and even Brewers slider grubs. I also cast with a slidin...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

My 522 handles spoons the best, my favorite so far are the Daiwa Presso Lupin series, which I think weigh 1.5 gr. I’ve cast the 1/16 oz Pins Minnow and the YoZuri L 44 F, Minnow as well as weighed nymphs. I’ve not had success with the trout magnets so can’t address their “castability.” The rod has h...

Re: ultra light casting rod?

I just checked the AliExpress app and there are a couple Kuying Teton baicaters (and spinning) rods for sale now, with prices ranging from $52- $53 and shipping is stated on the site as $1.99. According to the site, it shows a 25% off for Mobile only. So the discount really is only for those orderin...

Re: ultra light casting rod?

Personally I don’t really like slow rods for accurate casting, or at least I don’t cast as accurately, but that may br personal preference. I also haven’t casted that rod. The Teton 5’2” is more of a progressive action rod, I have easily cast spoons and spinners and plugs down to 1.5 gr. I’ve used m...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

If it means anything, of all the stuff I’ve ordered from China, the Tetons came faster than most. Sometimes the tracking software gets “stuck”, and you can copy and paste the tracking number from AliExpress into the EMS linked site and get an entirely different delivery date. Then again, I’ve Order ...

Re: $100 china UL BFS combo

Well, Mr. Chan apparently has answered your questions with his new video as he has just posted his review of the reel you were curious about buying. It sounds like it Would be a good option for your Teton 662 rod. Remember, in today’s economy almost all reels are made in China, or at least a majorit...

Re: $100 china UL BFS combo

I actually think it’d probably hold up as well as most other reels today. Maybe not the top quality premium reels, but probably as good as the last generation. Remember, like many of today’s cars and even many trucks, their made for attractive features and ease of assembly, not for durability. Prime...

Re: $100 china UL BFS combo

I don’t know about the reel, as are reports are the spool is quite heavy for a BFS/UL reel. Check out this video by Brian Chan from Singapore - https://youtu.be/L6PI2rswfl0 His channel concentrates on BFS and UL tackle, and if you need to see someone competent with BFS/UL Tackle in a video, he has a...

Re: (SUL) Super Ultra Light?

Shipping can be long, especially during the Christmas season. If you order a less busy season, it can be faster, in some cases than shipping than Japan. If you ordered via AliExpress, you get tracking provided, and a lot of times you have the choice to pay more for quicker shipping. As to ordering f...

Re: YouTube EnjoyFishing !!!!

I asked a Japanese friend (who is actually in Taiwan now) if he could identify some of the weights and lures, specifically. From previous conversations, I had been informed that the lures typically used were JDM (of course) trout specific baits. While my Japanese is non-existent, and my corresponden...
