Re: Reel Recommendation for Steez XBD Frog Rod
I switch from a Zillion Type R with a 100m spool (20lb fluoro) and 13Met (50lb braid), depending on time of year basically. As soon as I pick up the AGS model, I'll decide what reel goes to which rod. Round reels just don't fit my hands that well so I rarely use them for anything other than giant sw...

Re: Heavy hard bait rod
My favorite rod over the years for that is the mbr843 glx. From Dobyns, I like the 705cb glass (fast), but I'm not sure if you'd like it. Very versatile rod otherwise. The 843 glx would be better for smaller paddletails and chatterbaits imo. I also grind in the fish very fast and use the strongest h...

Re: NFC MB765-1 X-Ray NEO
My mb765 NEO weighs in at 3.285 oz. That's not as light as I thought I'd be. They also updated the specs, saying that the blank weight is "~3oz." How did you get yours so soon? I ordered as soon as the email came out, and it still hasn't shipped yet. I'm perfectly ok with the 3 or so months of wait...

Re: Coronavirus "Covid-19"
As a German living in the US (SF Bay Area), I am worried that the severity of the situation has not fully yet been appreciated by the population and the federal government. +1 on the general population not understanding the severity that this can bring. I'm not too sure about our government though,...

Re: NFC MB765-1 X-Ray NEO
On the website, there is a spot where it said this weights 2 oz. Can that be right? If the blank is really 2oz, it might really be the one. We'll see though. There really isn't a blank this light with lure ratings up to 2oz. With that said, where the weight is placed is much more important than tot...

Re: NFC MB765-1 X-Ray NEO
I saw the email and am intrigued as well. Seem to have specs I am looking for. It suggests a lot of moving bait techniques. I emailed a few questions about the blank...will share whenever I get the info. Thanks, let us know what they say. Zentron fiber is fiberglass. It is a composite rod, hence th...

Re: NFC MB765-1 X-Ray NEO
Lol. Well I ordered one. Not sure when I'll get the chance to measure it though. I'm pretty behind on builds right now.

NFC MB765-1 X-Ray NEO
New X-Ray blank from NFC. Virtually unbreakable? Also, anyone know what "Zentron Fiber" is? At an intro $75 price, I might have to try one.. Thoughts?

Re: Thread finish epoxy
If it's not a trouble for you it would be of great help. I have an unused 16 oz package and want to know if I can further rely on it or not. Thank you ! I mixed 2 different batches: one from a new bottle and one from an opened 5+ year bottle. Both cured at the same rate. Both are slightly sticky, I...

Re: Thread finish epoxy
The epoxy should cure. For me, Envirotex is still tacky at 8 hours. My 2nd coat doesn't usually go til the next day (24 hrs). I also feel it cures hard enough to fish at around 24 hours. With a temp 70 degrees or higher, of course. I'm unsure about the expiration date, but I have an old (5+ years) a...

Re: Thread finish epoxy
I have Envirolite for some years and the hardener is kind of yellow can still be used ? Although I measured exactly with syringes and mixed thoroughly until clear again , the applied coat finished a little sticky. could be because of the epoxy ,,age''? No, age shouldn't affect the epoxy from curing...

Re: Rods with the 'it' Factor
Was never impressed with MB rods other than the looks. Which part didn't impress you? Not challenging your opinion, rod preferences are usually deeply personal, anyway. Just asking because I'd just hooked into an almost-8 pounder from shore on a new FMJ and had to do the "dammit-I'm-too-high-up-on-...

Re: Uses for Copoly?
More sensitive than braid for slack line presentations? What fluoro do you use? Braid is also dead in my hands for any slack line techniques. Fluoro is the only option unless there's grass or any vegetation. Try Sunline Shooter. It's my favorite fluoro at the moment, but keep in mind that it will b...
