Nrx or glx
Looking for a rod to use as a senko rod, small paddletails, flukes, double down for minor use on shaky head and maybe dropshot. Think I’d prefer a bit of a shorter rod but still open to opinions. Was looking at the 852c or 853c

Re: Fall fishing
Early fall while slop is still around a bit I love frog fishing still. Other then that, crankbaits, paddletails on a swimjig head and chatterbaits

Re: 7.1 or 7.3 ft rod for hollow bodied frogs
It’s not the exact rods your mentioning but I was throwing frogs on a 7’6” 13fishing envy black heavy and a 7’ kistler helium medium heavy while I was in the market for a dedicated frog rod. The longer rod was better for heavier harder hooksets, for controlling the fish in and around cover, much lon...

Re: Which 2 rods and reels are you guys going to mainly use this season?
Well I think I went way past the buy 2 limit of this thread and not sure if I can narrow it down to using just 2 but I’d say I’ve been using the loomis imx pro 884 twfr paired with the chronarch mgl for frogs, and the kistler helium lta medium heavy fast paired with another chronarch mgl. I believe ...

Re: G. Loomis 884 twfr
The past month and a bit have been crazy and have had a chance to shop for a rod but finally got some free time. So I spent most of my morning driving all over the place before I finally got my hands on the imx pro 884 twfr a model I have been considering myself. Side by side I had the zodias 7’2 h...

Re: Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
Well i am going to look at the rods and put them in hand this weekend. It’s a bit of a drive so I’m unable to look through the week. But as long as I can get the deal it’s worth the drive. I just checked and numbers are getting low. They might be sold out of the 894’s atleast the website shows that....

Re: Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
I use my 893NRX for t-rigs with a 1/4 or 5/16 weight, mostly with a beaver. I always have a 3/8 or 1/2 jig tied on my 894NRX. Both work great in their application. Dont have a 853NRX or 854NRX, have a few glx rods to fill these spots. Do have a 873NRX and would say I like it a lot also. It would al...

Re: Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
What do you mean by a “plunk and dunk” rod? Pitching tx rigged worms, lizards, beavers, creatures, etc around cover such as lily pads, patches of submerged cabbage and laydowns. These are these are predominant forms of cover for largemouth where I live. Was looking to use the rod for open water to ...

Re: Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
I don't have an 894 but I've seen more than a few comments about the NRX 894 being a little tip heavy. I have a current GLX 854 and a current GLX 893. I generally use the 854 in shallower water with heavier cover (mostly lily pads) and the 893 in deeper water with not as much cover to dunk tx rigge...

Re: Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
Thank you. What’s the big difference between th 854 and 894. Seeing as they are both 4 powered rods you’d think they’d be similarcndbasshunter wrote:894 is where it's at. the 853/854/893 are all underpowered to me. the 873c is sick also.

Loomis 853/854 vs 893/894
Just curious as to why go one route over the other? Mostly curious as to why the longer 7’5” rod seems to be more popular. I’m always seeing people recommend 893/894 if you were to get just one high end rod. I’m right on the edge of grabbing either the 853/854 or one of the 893/894 just have to ...

Re: Debating between a couple frog rods
Since nobody seems to be commenting on anything other than the St. Croix, I’ll throw in another possibility. Take a look at the Tatula elite Ish Monroe frog rod. It’s certainly within your budget, and it has a lot going for it. I have a friend who fishes the zodias rods, and I think they are quite ...

Re: G. Loomis 884 twfr
Than I would go with the IMX over the Shimano zodias Okay thank you. So would you think the 884 or 885 would be the way to go. I’m trying to find the 885 in case I need to fish heavier mats. But being in Canada fishing a lot of mid to northern lakes I don’t see too many super heavy grass mats. Just...

Re: G. Loomis 884 twfr
I live in Canada where the imx pro’s are normally 430 so the Steez are probably closer to the 600+. I can get this imx pro 884 for closer to 240 so that’s a heck of a deal. The Zodias is the other rod I’m looking at, either the 7’2 heavy or 7’5 heavy
