Re: Z bone frog rod

I’m sure the 7’3 h zbone is a nice rod. I have a 7’10’h model

Re: NRX balance

I can't argue that. Had same opinion initially. Fished it for 1 hour and never gave it any thought after that point. I am function over form by nature. then again, I can argue only the 894 might need it and that is in the eyes of the beholder. The rest IMO don't need it. Do they benefit from it just...

Re: NRX balance

question everything you read on the internet for sure. Last week I was fishing a 7'10H Kistler rod that weights 5oz. Reel was 6.2oz. I pick up my NRX 894 with a 6.2oz reel and it feels like a feather. Why? because I have roughly 1oz on the butt such that it is actually slightly butt heavy. The total...

Re: Baitcaster Braid Weight?

30# on most of my baitcasters. 40 and 50 on a couple. 20# on baitcasters was finiky in terms of digging for me with my casting motion. plain 30# pp has been a good one for me for last 5 years

Re: Conquest 903 vs 843

Have you read the review of the 842? yes, and after you posted scanned again. Looks like a great review but balanced. I think you will find that for the senko and a 3/8oz tw jig that you have two schools of thought. Some guys will want a Med Power rod; though the 842 looks a bit less then a full 2 ...

Re: Football Jig / Heavier Fluke rod

yes warranty is a good add

I've broken 4 rods in my life. one was a mfg defect or shipping damage. The other three were likely something I did

Re: Football Jig / Heavier Fluke rod

the challenge with a custom is not only cost but sometimes blank availability. I am big fan of NRX rods because the blank is suburb for bottom bouncing and I can balance the rod any way I want; then change it on a dime. If I want. NRX 893 for example IMG_4214.jpg IMG_4213.jpg I don't recall what I h...

Re: Football Jig / Heavier Fluke rod

I did not look relative to hook hanger but the 7'3H is 2.5 to 3 inches from lock down nut depending on where you want to measure my finger with a 6.2oz reel. For a longer rod without weight put into the handle this is very good based on my experience. I think the talk of balance takes away from how ...

Re: Football Jig / Heavier Fluke rod

Very good but not perfect. Balance point with Shimano met reel is 2.5 to 3 inches and n front of lockdown but

Rod weight is roughly 4.5oz

Re: Football Jig / Heavier Fluke rod

when discounted the Kistler HE3 7'3H fits the bill. At full retail the value of this rod is great. it is listed as xfast but I'd say the tip is near perfect for any type of plastic fishing. I fish frogs on it most often but use it for 7 inch Senko's quite often.

Re: Conquest 903 vs 843

Do you know if any loomis dealers in the Midwest who would actually carry the conquests? one of the challenges buying any high end rod that I can think of. No one carry's them. I have not been in a store that might carry such an animal for a long time but I can't see a Cabela's having them or at le...

Re: High end frog rod: heavy-ish surface veg

The notion of high end and heavy vegetation is in the eyes of the beholder. I've owned rods that would pull a jeep out of a creek but I did not care to fish with it because of a low hook up ratio. I have a HE3 7'3 Heavy now that I use for frogs and it works the bait well, casts a long way and I've n...
