Re: Plastics Challenge

I'm actually doing that for a while. I went through all my plastics and threw out everything I did not want to use and did not have real market value (those which had I sold off) and I only had plastics I actually wanted to use and believe in. The problem I'm running into soon is that I tend to use ...

Re: Sub $100 Ultralight Spinning Reel?

Best value reels come from Aliexpress. Tsurinoya makes some nice reels, a Kingfisher or a Whirlwing could work nicely and well within the budget. Big brands usually do not perform very well in the budget segment, you go there for their high-end stuff.

Re: Opinion: It may not be worth it

It is specific to various technique. There are baits where you do not really need high sensitivity, just the right action which is possible even with the cheaper materials. Throwing a wake-bait with a cheaper setup will not lose you any potential bites. You will notice them. On the other hand, conta...

Re: Any Aliexpress baits worth trying?

It depends what you want from your baits. If you are looking for the very best, stick with the top brands you are using today. Chinese makers play in the value segment, they do not innovate, they try to reproduce baits which are popular on the market at a cheaper price. Even with that, these baits a...

Re: What spinning reels do Lew's pro staffers really use ?

Maybe some of the newer reels are smoother? I do not know the Lew's reels as they are not popular here in EU and I never saw them. I personally use spinning reels from Aliexpress and even though they are cheap, they are smooth. If they have a noise, you need to service it and it will stay smooth. T...

Re: What spinning reels do Lew's pro staffers really use ?

It is free for them, why not use them? You do not really need anything special in a spinning reel. Yes, you can spend money to buy better reels, but they would not catch more fish on them.

Re: Coronavirus "Covid-19"

The virus cannot survive outside of a body too long. I'm not worried about a package which takes a couple of weeks to arrive.

Also some orders are shipping without problems, some are not shipping at all. This is my experience, it is all based on location I guess.

Re: EVA handles ... yea or nay ?

I prefer quality cork, but it is expensive. Eva shows use a lot harder, this is why i do not really like it. I have no problem using either, it is just eva gets ugly really fast.

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

leads me to believe that the AGS guides weigh more than the previously used steel framed SiC insert Fuji's on the 2019 Xtremes. Daiwa specifically advertises the AGS guides by claiming it is significantly lighter than the titanium fujis. While I did not weight them myself, this is something easy to...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

Looks like they will be using AGS guides on the new Xtremes. https://m.bassmaster.com/gear/st-croix-going-new-xtremes I wonder why they chose that guide? From what I have heard is they can break easy and are hard to replace. The replacement guides will be definitely more hard to get, but my friends...

Of course it is interesting, not everyone is from the US :D

Do you like this rod? I'm thinking about it, though they upgraded it for 2020, so might a bit different now.

Re: Best bang for the buck spinning reel

If you are going for max value and not the best refinement, you should check out the chinese brands. One example is Tsurinoya, you can get it through aliexpress. Even their cheapest model is decent and they do not really have a bad modell in the lineup. They are not as refined as high-end offerings ...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

i find it strange that they contract out the guide installation when they have such a huge factory They do both. Not sure what chunk contractors take though... St. Croix sells a lot of rods even in Europe. Are they really popular in EU? I do not really think it is true. I'm in EU and I rarely see t...

Re: St. Croix stagnating?

I'm in the UK and still in the EU for a few more minutes. They sell them here and are fairly popular as a premium brand. They are very popular in Holland too. I imagine they're less popular in Germany as they don't make many suitable longer rods, which are more commonly used in countries with limit...
