Here only the bearing is sealed, but the spinning reels with mag seal cannot be maintained properly at home. If this is the future for Daiwa casting reels as well, then I'm out. I want reels which are easy to do maintenance on.bassinmaumee wrote:whats wrong with magseal?

Re: Plastic in reels
What kind of plastic are these? Im guessing they arent dollar store plastic, but anyone know the exact type of plastic used on reels? Keep having nagging thoughts about the TWS lever system in tat type R breaking. The more I try to analyse the tat R and curado I, the more paranoid I become :( There...

Re: Expride Anyone?
Seems odd to me that if transportation is the reason for a two piece rod you would choose one that disconnects above the reel seat. The handle section is maybe 16" long, so on a seven foot rod you're still packing around five and a half feet of blank Still don't get the construction being built for...

Re: Expride Anyone?
Whereas you "would never buy a one piece rod", they are the norm here in the US for bass rods. Unlike when I'm flyfishing, I don't ever have to check ferrules. I never have to make sure they're tight, check/adjust for alignment after side loading a rod - purposefully or accidentally. Although ferru...

Re: Expride Anyone?
The 2 pc construction concerns me as you are fishing a "power" technique rod - whether heavy jigs, SBs, frogs or just near slop - and placing high stress on the blank. I could envision the rod slowly working its way out of the handle and then you crack a strong hook set on a big bass in the slop an...

Re: Expride Anyone?
The Expride rods are made by Shimano Japan's own rod factory. These are not built at a factory that builds rods for other companies. Thanks for the clarification Bantam1. Any insight in why the rods over 6'10" being two piece? My understanding is that is has to do with transportation in Japan. I gu...

Re: Cleaning mag sealed Daiwas
I just bought a mag sealed steez. I want to mantain it myself in the future. Will I have to send it in? Or what? I thought mag sealed meant no matenance to the mag sealed areas. The mag seal is used to seal the housing which includes all the gears. Newer reels (new Certate, Exist, etc) has mag seal...

Maintenance of synchronised levelwind ABUs
Hi, I just got a used ABU 4601 C3 from eBay. It is almost like new, but I noticed that the levelwind has some dirt on it. It needs a cleaning and I will probably do some upgrades as well. The question is, what do you put on the levelwind, cog wheel and other parts in connection with the synchronized...

Re: Cleaning mag sealed Daiwas
Anyone find a solution on this topic? I picked up 3 from TW at X-mas. 2506 is smooth as butter. 1003 and 2004 not so much. I have actually never maintenanced a spinning reel and would be scared to death. Of course I haven't kept a reel long enough to need it, but that's another story. If anyone has...

Re: New Stella $800.00. It's time for reflection....
TT, I think 2014 might be a year of reflection for me to see if I have lost sight of what's important. Rick Actually you are not alone :) I simply cannot afford the highest end gear, but I still did spend too much. This is not only on rods and reels, but lures and other stuff as well. What I did is...
