Re: A Popular Question
:D :D I had a situation occur just like this today. I took a good friend of mine fishing. He first remarked that I was throwing a shakey head on casting tackle. Then he said something about the tiny knobs that were on the reel. He watched me cast a couple times then said "Man! I'm going to have to ...

Re: Line up to start the year
Mine will likely change as I am buying a few more rods and will probably pick up a few more reels, but here it is as of the moment. http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/Dragboatdriver/slideshow/Reel%20Collection%20First%20of%202014 Excuse the dust on the reels. They are all super good condition and man...

Any variant, but particularly the R-...

New Megabass Rod... Need Help!
I am looking to buy another Megabass rod. However, at the moment there are no gaps in my lineup. I don't fish much heavy cover, so a super stout rod would do me little to no good. The reels I have as possible mates for it are: FX 68, TD-ITO with RCS 1016 spool, IZE Personal Order with ZPI RC-001 spo...

Re: Learning curve from Shimano to Daiwa?
Daiwa's Magforce braking is generally regarded as superior compared to centrifugal and other mag brake designs. presumably, the more advanced the braking system, the less input (i.e. thumbing the spool) is required from the user. so why then would it require more effort, more practice, to control a...

Re: Learning curve from Shimano to Daiwa?
It won't hurt the reel. You will just sacrifice some performance of the reel. Daiwa reels require more user input than Shimanos IMHO, even at 30 ft you could be putting too much power behind it. A 30ft cast with a T3 1016 could be achieved with a small flick of the wrist.

Re: Learning curve from Shimano to Daiwa?
I know that I will be blasted by a couple of the TT members here for saying this, but here it goes anyway. I always found Shimano reels to be very sluggish, and that's why I stopped using them. I think you are experiencing the reason I love Daiwa/Megabass. They are very fast! I personally don't use ...

Need y'alls opinion! FX 68
I accidentally purchased (it's a long story) a NIB Megabass FX 68. It won't be here till end of this coming week, so I have to decide on what rod I want for it. It will be a workhorse reel. At the moment I don't have any gaps in my day to day lineup. So, I have no particular technique(s) I am lookin...
