Re: Completed my first Point Blank build...
There was definitely no shortage of boat traffic Saturday which is odd for Stockton in the fall. I was told there was four tournaments last weekend. We caught several 15-17” fish but no big ones. Nevertheless my son and I had a good day in the pond.

Re: Comparing Original Steez to Metanium MGL, etc
I also am a Daiwa fan. Because of the current lack of selection in the Daiwa camp I went kinda nuts on buying Shimanos this summer and fall. So far I believe I made the right decision. Those mgl reels especially have a smooth effortless cast. Apparently the distance is excellent too but I’m rarely t...

Re: Completed my first Point Blank build...
Exactly. A bigger percentage of the overall weight is toward the rear. So while the small diameter elite-x blanks may be equal in weight they just don’t balance as well or feel as nice. Basically they should be lighter. Nevertheless if the application calls for it I’d buy another.

Re: Completed my first Point Blank build...
You’d just be disappointed. My skills are not like you alls skills. To top it off I just struggled on this one. I need a better setup for applying finish. I spin it by hand and really need a motor with a slipper to help I think. The other thing is my decal didn’t adhere as well as I’d like. I wouldn...

Completed my first Point Blank build...
....and fished it at Stockton Lake on Saturday. I was dragging a 5/16 finesse jig with Zoom critter craw. The blank is a pb731mxf. It is what I believe is the very best finesse jig rod period. Not necessarily my build because I’m nothing compared to you other builders here. Anyway it finished at 3.4...

Re: Curado K....5 gear ratio?
I’d be another voter for a 5.xx ratio k. An option is buying a jdm bantam with the “pg” gear. Probably the route I’ll take.

Re: Shakyhead blank
That is very interesting and appreciated. I like patterns like that. I have built several casting rods but no spinning yet for whatever reason. That’s going to change soon hopefully. The sooner the better with cool weather approaching.

Daiwa big bait handle
I got this handle in a lot. I don’t need it so I was hoping some of you could tell me a fair price to ask. I assumed the big bait or striper guys would use something like this.

Would you say it’s a little light in power for a shakyhead?

That is very impressive. Was it difficult to acquire the parts? Expensive?

Re: What have you lost while fishing?
I lost a steez on a rod I had just completed in grand lake. What stinks is I didn’t notice until the next week when I started getting my gear together.
