Snaps, split rings and hooks for south LA redfishing?
Have fished down there many times but rarely with artificials and never my own gear. Taking 1 set up and a small box of jigheads+plastics, chatterbaits and 78-115 size jerkbaits with me for my upcoming trip. Haven't caught many fish over 8lb down there but I always want to be prepared if I hook into...

What are your go to snaps, split rings and replacement hooks (both treble and single)
Picked up some Pointer 48SPs recently and was surprised that the little #12 hooks look to be rather mediocre quality in relation to 65 and 78 sizes. I have Megabass Katsuage treble hooks on my 78s and size 4 Owner inline single hooks on my 65s. I do have size 6 inline single hooks but they look a bi...

Re: G. Loomis GCX Lite - thoughts
Always exciting to see a new line of rods aimed at the light and ultralight angler. I'd love to one day be able to order premium USDM trout/UL rods and reels to take full/easier advantage of warranties. I personally don't have much interest in these rods but I hope they are popular and encourage Lo...

Re: Spinning Setup -pick 4 rods for 4+ techniques
Thanks. Do you drop shot? If so, what rod do you do that with? Im trying to decide between the 821nrr and 822dss Very rarely and I'd consider myself a pretty average dropshotter at best. If you're fishing 1/8oz or lighter, you may like the 821s NRR, but imo the tip is too soft for anything heavier,...

Re: Spinning Setup -pick 4 rods for 4+ techniques
Never in a million years could I actually rationalize having 4 spinning rods on deck (I only own 2 setups and feel like it's 1 too many), but if you make me have 4 it would be: 1. Ned (NRX+ 821s NRR which I own and with a Vanquish is my favorite combo) 2. 4" wacky rigged Senko (NRX 822s SYR which I ...

Re: Dock skipping bluegill baits?
Can't speak for actual bluegill baits but I cannot recommend the 2.4" Dark Sleeper strongly enough for skipping, especially if you use spinning gear. The baits are so small and compact that along with the head weighting, they skip like a smooth rock across the surface. It's like they were made for s...

Anyone have a Chronarch G and a Tranx 150 that can share their opinion on how they compare?
I've had my Chronarch G since whenever they were released. Fantastic work horse that I've remarkably been unable to ruin in saltwater after all these years. Just wondering how it compares to the much newer but quite a bit lower price point Tranx 150? Chronarch G is old enough now that I wonder if th...

Re: JDM Stella/Vanquish etc Service
I would like to See the Vanquish come to the US as well. I just am not sure if that will ever happen since we have Twin Power and Exsence. It would fall into a price point that is between the two models from my understanding and it doesn't fit the plans. Maybe someday. Apologies to OP for the threa...

Has there been any indication of a Vanquish update for 2022/23?
My NRX+ 821s NRR+Vanquish 2500 is the best feeling combo I've ever owned, and I'd really like my UL combo to feel just as good. It's currently packing a Stradic C2000 but I'd love to upgrade it to a Vanquish at some point...especially if the exchange rate stays like this for a while. A little hesita...

Re: NRX+ 883c BJR owners, how versatile is this rod?
Thanks for all the tips everyone. Was kinda leaning 903/904 instead of the 883 now but heddonfrog has convinced me against the 904. I've been forcing my 893/894 to work for me for chatterbaits lately over the 842, but they just make you lose fish with the faster tip so the last thing I want to do i...

Re: Upgrade time. Aldebaran or Metanium or one of each?
Just a side note, since you mentioned sw fishing- the MGL spools will corrode quickly, so keep them for fw endeavors. Oh yes, I learned that lesson very quickly with the original silver Met MGL ](*,) . I've ruined a lot of reels in San Diego's salty waters, but prior to that reel, it took 4+ years ...

Re: Upgrade time. Aldebaran or Metanium or one of each?
Is the JDM Aldebaran 30 the same as the USDM Aldebaran 50? Yes, it's just a difference in line capacity enabled by spools with different depths. And what features/advantages does the Aldebaran offer over the Met MGL? The Aldebaran is just smaller and lighter... however, anything in Shimano's lineup...
