Re: Megabass Vision 110 vs Lucky Craft Pointer

I fish smallmouth waters... #1 jerkbait in my box is the Pointer 78. I've got a Vision 110 jr, but its not seen a hook-up yet...

Lowrance Hook 4x DSI

Tell me about the Lowarance Hook 4x DSI... the good, the bad and the ugly. I fish <40' deep and want it primarily for finding hard/rocky patches of structure scattered in the muck bottom. I'd also use it, to a lessor degree, to locate and follow outside weed edges. Thanks

Pixy 68 spool removal?

Bought a Pixy 68l (my only Daiwa) this last winter and had it professionally serviced as soon as I received it, so now is the first time I want to be "under the hood" to lubricate the spool bearings. I removed the three side-plate screws on the handle side and expected to be able to lift the side pl...

Re: rod grip shortening opinions requested...

The subject of “rod grip shortening opinions requested” leads some, myself included, down a path that I don’t think you were really intending to go.  I felt your goal was to shorten your rod grip.  In reality, your goal is for a more ergonomic grip for yourself. My original thought was as presented...

Re: rod grip shortening opinions requested...

I was looking to provide a more natural hand spread when casting, which was about 2" - 3" above the butt cork on bare blank on this particular rod. I didn't like the grip on the bare blank so was contemplating shortening the rod and move the cork butt 2" - 3" closer to the reel stem. After discussio...

Re: rod grip shortening opinions requested...

Thank you for your insight Matt. After conversation with others I'm leaning more strongly to leaving the grip length as is and building up the bare rod blank with cork tape, then covering the cork tape with a shrink covering available from Mudhole. This will minimize the balance change and, hopefull...
