Re: Berkley NanoFil
I was given a spool of 10lb test NanoFil a few days ago and while a few hours of using the line doesn't warrant an honest review I'll offer my INITIAL impressions because they differ with some that have been written previously in this thread. The line has a feel more like mono than any other braid I...

Re: Berkley NanoFil
BassBoss... are you asking about visibility?
Marc... I seldom go back into the canals as the weeds usually get the better of me.

Re: Berkley NanoFil
Marc... A disappointment I've had with original Fireline in tests <10lb is weak shock strength. I assume that may be why Fireline is labeled at nearly 1/2 of its actual break strength. Since NanoFil is marketed as an ultra thin diameter line, has it's shock strength proven to be significantly improv...

Re: Berkley NanoFil
Marc from Berkley... when will you run a few spools of Nanofil through the flame green color pot? If my old eyes can't see it well in the glare of the water it won't find its way in my shopping cart. There are lots of line watchers in the aging demographic you sell fishing line to.

Re: Berkley NanoFil
When I look through a screen door I don't see the screen, only what's beyond. I'd guess that if the line were thin enough bass wouldn't notice it but only what was beyond as the screen door. This is probably true for virtually every line... diameter is a key ingredient in visibility.

Hi-vis... it makes a great deal of difference if I can see it or not. IF I feel the bass care I'll use a fluoro leader.

Re: Berkley NanoFil
MDisbrow... I suspect using a larger quantity of smaller diameter fibers in a bundle will achieve a rounder and smoother bundle. Although I'm not convinced that "rounder" and "smoother" catches more fish, it does seem to be what all the chatter on these forums is about.

Re: Persistent problem with braid in spinning tackle
Braids are not created equal. Try Fireline on one of your Penn reels and see if it behaves better. If it doesn't spool the Fireline on a new reel.

Re: Abu 4600, how easy?
I've fished a 4601 with the bearing mods you've indicated for several years. There are a lot of things i like this reel for, but throwing very light baits is not one of them. I find there is too much spool inertia to effectivly throw light baits. Paying the listed price for those mods seems pretty s...

Re: Smoothness
Sorry for the poorly written first post. My intended point is smoothness is not an important factor when choosing braided line.

Smoothness
I hear numerous anglers recommending one brand of braided line over another based upon smoothness. I'm concerned with strength, diameter, roundness, suppleness, color, cost and now maybe whether or not it is heavy enough to sink; but smoothness doesn't play any part in my purchase decision.

Re: New Berkley Nanofil
I haven't read anything that indicates this line is supposed to have sinking characteristics. I too would like to see the FluoroBraid made in a hi-vis coloration.

Hypothetical strength?
Given equal total mass, is a line stronger when woven with more fibers or woven with fewer fibers?
