Have top water rods changed?

I'm home from work today sitting out a blizzard... yep, April 14! Wondered if the accepted norm for top water rods has changed from "shorter is better"? Long, long ago <6' was considered what you needed in a good top water rod, then 6', then it became 6 1/2'. Now with even lighter blanks and shorter...

Cal... Berkley Fushion hooks

Cal... you didn't write what you don't like about the Berkley fushion trebles in your Dredger review, only that you thought they should be changed right from the box? I've fished several baits that carried the Fushion trebles and found them to be pretty decent.

Re: Light line leader connection

Apparently some anglers believe the "best" knot is the most difficult to tie knot that only the most experienced anglers can successfully tie. On the other hand, I believe the best knot is one that is easily tied and can be duplicated repeatedly in all fishing situations...

Re: Best stealthy braid for clear water?

I don't think there is a "clear" PE braid. If you're trying to find the "stealthiest" braid, use the absolute thinnest diameter braid you can get away with.

Re: Light line leader connection

Alberto knot has been working for years. Tighten well, cut the mono tag right at the knot, leave 1/2" PE tag.

Your sarcasm is noted... please let us know how much of the 0.38mm is dyneema and how much of it is coating.

Re: New fireline fused 8 carrier

It is more sensitive than other braids when tying direct for shallow water bottom bouncing...but how much more sensitivity is really needed. I've been using original Fireline in tests <=10lb on spinning reels since the mid 1990s. With the exception of NanoFil, I haven't fished another braid that pr...

Re: Tutula SV TW review... what did you mean?

Seemed to me as an unnecessary and obvious statement unless the reviewer had noticed this reel to handle a line differently than all other reels in some situation.

Tutula SV TW review... what did you mean?

At the end of the Tatula SV TW review this statement was written: "The combination of the T-Wing System with the SV Spool and Ultimate Tournament Drag gives anglers an everyday reel that can handle the entire gamut of applications, as long as you have the right line for the job spooled on." What wer...
