Re: Equipment Related Pet Peeves

Guys selling used gear on fishing websites at prices that are near what new gear can be bought. Recent example: a guy selling a used reel for $120, a reel that can be bought brand new on eBay at $132, with free shipping. He may have bought it new for $200, but the current price is $132 new shipped....

Re: If you could have only one crankbait...

I seem to recall an older thread that covered the best crankbaits...

There were many positive posts for the Lucky Craft CB100 and CB200 baits.

Then there's the craziness about the pre-Rapala Wiggle Worts....

Re: Phenix Bass Recon Elite vs St. Croix Legend Elite

On jigs, St. Croix's Dan Czerwinski, their warranty guy, may move you up to a Legend Xtreme. I had an Xtreme MH, and it was a very sensitive rod, enabling me to feel the jig move along the bottom and feel the very light bites. The MH fished like a H, so I didn't like it. I should have obtained the M.

Re: Phenix Bass Recon Elite vs St. Croix Legend Elite

I believe the St C's fish heavier than their rating....

It used to be that way, but I'm not sure about the LE's.

Experts please weigh in here.,..

Pop Max

My Pop Max doesn't pop very often...a Rebel Pop-R will pop much more frequently. Using 50 lb Sufix 832.

I keep reading about how great the Pop Max is, so I really want it to work.

Your views would be appreciated.

Thanks.

When to use 1/8!and 1/4?

My jigs are mostly 3/8 and 1/2.

But I have some 1/8 and 1/4....BUT unsure on when to use the lighter weights.

Would appreciate your views.

Thanks,

Fred

Re: Best Lure for Dock Skipping???

I've been using an Owner ScrewLock, 5/0. It works for me.

I need to confirm they way you are fogging it. The hook eye goes into the tail. Is that correct?

I caught nice bass rigging it the other way.

Re: Anyone know of a rod "carrier"? For easy transport of 3 rods

I posted my previous message promising to provide info on wrapping rods together... The loaf-of-bread ties are too short and too wiry. The best wrapping tie is a "RapiClip Soft Wire Tie" distributed by Luster Leaf Products of Woodstock, IL. The RapiClip ties are sold for wrapping plants together, or...

Re: Best hollow body frog rod

I don't have a unique rod for the hollow bodied frogs...I use a Phenix Ultra MBX for most of my top water lures. Line is 50 lb Sufix 832.

If I'm fishing lily pads, I can use the MBX or a Falcon Amistad with 70 lb Sumari.

Re: Anyone know of a rod "carrier"? For easy transport of 3 rods

Here's what I do... Place each rod into a Stik Jacket (or other brand of the same type) cover. Stik Jackets are the best. You can also cover the B/C reels with TW reel covers. Then wrap the rods together in two places: near the top and bottom of the rod jacket. I use a wrap that I buy in a garden or...

Re: Best line for crankbaits??

Sunline Sniper is all I use for cranks of all sizes and depth ranges. 17# for squarebills, and shallow runners down to 6'. Mainly because I fish them around 12# or 14# for all cranks that run deeper than 6'. Sniper is small diameter compared to like sized mono. 17# throws like 12#. Excellent limpne...

Re: Best Lipless Crankbait

Numerous posts indicate that Yo-Zuri Rattl'n Vibe is the best lure. I went through y lure collection, and I have three different versions, and I ask which is the preferred version. Here's what I have: a 5/8 oz in a flat white paper case. a 3/8 oz in the box plastic package....the back of the package...

Livingston Lures -- What has been your experience

The lures include cranks, lipless rattlers, and jerkbaits.

The sound was innovative, but do they outperform other hardbaits?

Would appreciate your experiences.

Thanks.
