Re: New Bass Mafia Terminal Coffin

Experimented this summer with this Gamakatsu slit foam box. Doesn't hold the very largest of hooks, been works good for if you get them on sale, you buy 4 for the price of 1 Bass Mafia Terminal Coffin.

Re: Action vs. Soft Tip vs. Taper

My $0.02... A soft tip helps with the following: Throwing lighter lures and allowing a fish to take the lure deeper before the rod 'reacts' to the load. Taper helps with: Casting larger lures (think A-Rig and larger swimbaits) by loading the rod correctly for a long and accurate cast and keeping fis...

Re: Which 2 rods and reels are you guys going to mainly use this season?

I guess this is more of a what I used the most this past season post for me, but here goes.

MB XX A-Mart Flip Stick with 50lb braid and LH Lew's Super Duty Reel for pitching 3/8-3/4oz plastics

MB XX Perfect Pitch with 50lb braid and LH Lew's BB1 Pro for throwing a frog

Re: Boat shoes

Can't remember the last time I had to get wet when launching boat. I typically drive it off and gently run it onto whatever landscape is nearby (typically sand or grass where I fish)....Thats what keel guards are for! When it comes to shoes for fishing, I've been wearing some Saucony Hurricane ISOs ...

Re: Tackle warehouse price matching rules

Like many of us, I've spent a new bassboat worth of money at Tackle Warehouse over the years. Always great service and prices, though I typically limit my purchases from them to baits, line, and terminal tackle. A lot of my rods and reels are purchased used or negotiated with other vendors. I also h...

Re: Basic Rod + Braid > High end rod + fluro

If there is no slack in the line and it's ALWAYS tight, of course braid will offer better sensitivity. It has no stretch. Fish braid with any slack in the line or in wind and you won't feel much. So in summary, if you want to fish where you're constantly pulling your bait, use braid. Unfortunately,...

Re: Buzzbait Setup

Depending on cover...

Lew's BB1 Pro 7:1 or Lew's Custom Pro SLP 7.5:1

For heavier cover (grass) - Dobyns 736CB Glass (Their chatterbait rod) with 50lb braid

For non-grass - MB XX Extreme Mission with 50lb braid

Take your pick of buzzbaits... Just make sure they squeeeeal!

Re: Spinnerbait guys: different blade configurations

Throw a Colorado / Indiana blade combo a lot in rivers or a single Indiana blade spinnerbait. Everyone throws a willow/willow around here or a colorado /willow. So the combinations I throw don't get seen very often.

Re: Chatterbait trailer selection

I used to throw the 'Original' chatterbait with the split tail trailer and had great success with that. In more recent years, I've gone to a Berkley Havoc Pit Boss. Adds bulk for casting and help keep it above the grass I fish.

Re: How many Shimano Antares do you own?

Zero.. I used to own some JDM reels (Antares AR, Metanniums, Pixy). But ultimately I kept going back to either Curado Es or now some different Lew's. The JDMs were nice, but the Curados and Lew's just seem to be more robust for my type of fishing.

Re: Reel Boxes

I keep the reel boxes only because when I sell them, it seems like everyone who buys them really wants the original boxes with the paperwork, etc. Of course, I had a bunch of E Series Curado boxes that I kept for 5+ years and finally decided to recycle them.... only to sell all the reels the next ye...

Re: Megabass Orochi XX... What’s next for the USDM??
