Re: Reel Grease question

Yamalube blue marine grease. Very tacky. Works great in spinners and baitcasters. Does not imulsify easily with water. Very consistant in all temps. From my abu's to Zee baas reels. It is the only one I use. That and reelx. Screw the over priced reel manufacturer labeled greases. Hot sauce.....LOL

Re: E21 Carrot Stix PG, I bought one. And I love it.

I picked up the 7'10 rated to 1oz rod for throwing poppers. I picked it up for 100 bucks at TW. Figured No one else makes that length and that kind of taper/ power. All in all its a nice stick. Pulled in a few 5-8lb NJ bss with it and now use it for a fairly universal rod. If there is such a thing. ...

Re: Fluorocarbon Jig knots

Doubled uni knot, best fluoro knot I've found. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGZ8SBI8sGI Two problems with the double uni with mono or flor. When pulled tight and stressed. It only stands on one leg. If you fight a fish for awhile check the knot. One leg will be locked tight to the hookeye and the...

Re: Fluorocarbon Jig knots

I have been using the Ian Miller knot with great success for 3 years now. I use it when trolling 80lb mono offshore and jigging and popping tuna with tests ranging from 80-160lbs (floro) I'll use it as well in FW for bass, pike and muski. But when there aren't any weeds and structure hasn't really g...

Re: Berkley NanoFil

Paulus Just Fishing has nanofil breaking @ or near double its break strength. 4lb - 7.93lb 10lb - 20.33lb 12lb - 23.37 its advantages far outweigh its weakness of abrasion resistance from what some have posted. http://www.paulusjustfishing.com/4linetesting.htm Those numbers are ABS not KBS.....just...

Re: Berkley NanoFil

In regards to Diameter, and how "NANO" thin it is.....If you compare the labeled diameter to its actual Knotted break strength. There are plenty of lines stronger than it. Including orginal Fireline. I did some KBS tests when it first launched. And as far as overall strength vs diameter it is pretty...

Re: Daiwa Steez price increase again???

I'm curious where these companies draw the line where they will change the US Market price....As exchange rates fluctuate on an daily basis. If sales for their Japanese built products stay solid......If the US dollar versus the Yen Strengthens....Will daiwa decrease the price. Or will they capitaliz...

Re: Rumor about the new Steez reel ?

There are quite a few clueless guys working at tackleshops. I know I'm friends with a bunch ;) . Even the most knowledgeable aren't privy to product to be released two cycles out. And alot of the reps barely know their current line up, aren't even sure of release dates of icast product. Let alone ne...

Re: Berkley NanoFil

The Alberto Knot is "not" working for me. I don't like the way the tag end of the fluoro sticks out, it catches the guides and line on the reel. If I try to trim it too close it eventually unravels and fails. In desperation I tried the J knot last night on the water. I had tried to tie it several t...

Re: Reel maitnece question?

I'll also add. I don't like greases that use additives like Teflon, silcone, and in quantums case tabasco (lol) as they are solids and will cause them to gum up. Yamalube rocket fuel yellow and red Corrsion X products Corrosion X REEL X Speed X

Re: Reel maitnece question?

There aren't any reel manufacturer greases that I would recommend. They are way to expensive considering how much you get. And aren't any better quality than what you get get at your marine supply. Two things. When maintaining shielded bearings its a good Idea to either removed the sheilds and oil o...

Re: Non-Disengaging vs. Disengaging

Just want to add. The only time I've ever seen levelwinds fail from being out of sync. Were Catastrophic. LOL Both were Abu's and both were user error. One guy had a run off while fishing bait, with the reel in freespool and the clicker on. He set the hook without engaging the reel and backlashed th...
