Re: Aerosal Spray for Cleaning Bearings

No sir, that was not the recommendation. Mineral spirits is what I use for soaking bearings sometimes. Not all the time though. We use various solvents but not acetone. What Shimano recommended did not contain a solvent. It was a specific lubricant you'll have to ask them about. I really have to tr...

So mineral spirits is Shimano's secret warranty sauce that was so covert it needed to be redacted from their email to you?

Re: Aerosal Spray for Cleaning Bearings

Even the OP actually considered what was said and avoided acetone. Score another one for those of us trying to offer positive contributions to forums with only one purpose to help. OP here. Just for the record, I never considered using acetone, I never mentioned the word acetone. I was looking for ...

Sweet, Sweet Combo. If the Braillist is anything like the Javelin it will hit a hummingbird in flight at about 40 yards with just a flick of the wrist

The spray can and the RPM device is for a quick flush not a deep cleaning. An acetone soak and US cleaner is for that purpose.
I actually called around town to some RC shops for the RPM Device, no one had it available. It looks like a good system to use.

Re: Aerosal Spray for Cleaning Bearings

I see now where this thread came from... the hedgehog website where I find this.. From the original author (me) and from my original post, I am taking Karil's (K.T.F, Yukihiro Sawamur's) advice on how to clean and prepare a new bearing or a slightly used one. He's kind of a big deal in the real tun...

Re: What's REALLY next for Daiwa

I thought the Alphas CT SV 70 was a joke. I guess it is real. It looks like a regular Alphas with spacers to use the 30m spool from the Steez CT. I don't see how the reel is an Alphas CT though. It's a good old platform though so it is good to see it still kicking. It might be a worth while investm...

Re: Christmas Gluttony

Bought this on December 22 from Singapore and I have my fingers crossed that it gets here in one piece. I have owned one before, sold it and regretted it and bought another one. Now I need a reel for it. https://i.postimg.cc/G3TXtmPx/D7-D73-C83-3-A7-E-49-D8-A909-E911-E316633-D.png I've eyed t...

Rod Wrap Screwed Up?

So taking a good look at a picture I took of a new rod, then ultimatly the rod itself, something looks bizzare to me. Notice in the pics how the rod wraps do not line up. Initially I am thinking are these even wrapped or are they laid over (??_ and whoever did it layed it over crooked. So I start lo...
