Re: 14 Zillion Crankbait & Swimbait Rods

I had a Zillion worm & jig rod. I really wanted to like it but couldn't. Looks and fit and finish are fantastic, the rod is really beautiful and well built, but the sensitivity and balance just weren't there for me. Plus I disliked how soft the EVA grips were- I really need a good hard grip which I ...

Re: Frog/Pitch Rod

Don't know how available they are now, but I really like my Lucky Craft H XF 7'6" rod. It's the carolina rig edition but works great for frogs. It's a broomstick.

Reins Bubbling Shaker. Amazing dropshot bait. It's outperformed every other one I've used.

Re: spinnerbait trailer

I like Cabela's 5" curly tail grub. Super good trailer.
Because Cabela's has such a high free shipping threshold my next batch will likely be Kalin grubs, anyone have any experience with them?

Re: Go to jigs for largemouth

Been a big fan of Siebert Outdoors jigs, but they sponsor Bass Resource so I may have to switch... lol.
In all honesty their jigs are superb, I use a lot of the 3/8 oz. Brush jigs.

Re: How Do You Keep Your Fishing Closet Organized?

I only have a corner of my very small, packed office. I have a rod rack that holds my combos (9 or so counting my surf fishing/panfishing/fly fishing combos), with a couple leaned in a corner because they're in hard tubes. All my soft plastics are in 3 Flambeau long deep boxes. I have probably 15 or...

Re: Rods and reels getting wet?

Thank you for your service. I don't have very high end gear but what I have is high end for me, and I'm pretty particular about it. Freshwater has never hurt any of them yet. A teardown and thorough cleaning once a year really seems to help. If cork is getting wet constantly I guess I'd want to use ...

Re: Worms

I had great success earlier this year on Rage Tail ReCon worms. Only problem is that you'll use them up- they rip easily and the body is pretty slender.
Berkley Power Worms are a good old standby as well.

Nice yak!
And I like the Wharton sticker. I grew up near there. It's beautiful. Any time someone starts criticizing NJ for being nothing but refineries and New York suburbs I tell them to check out Wharton.

Re: I'm torn: 13 Omen Black 2 or Dobyns Fury for Drop Shot

I have no experience with the Fury (yet), so this will be a very one sided opinion, but I can't find a single bad thing to say about any of my 3 Omen Blacks. They are incredibly good rods.

Re: Hook and weight box

I use a Plano 3601, the shallow version. I've never had hooks migrate in that one, but they did all the time in regular sized boxes.

Re: Spinning rod conundrum!

My favorite spinning rod by far is a Powell Max 3D. Very sensitive, excellent balance, and the fit and finish is great. I got mine for $100 during TW's 25 days sale.
