Old Nrx 873CRR vs Nrx + 873CRR

Just received the new Nrx + 873crr in the mail today. Won’t get around to fishing it for awhile but in hands it seems softer than the old model. It does feel lighter, weight wise & maybe that the reason. Wonder if anyone has/fished both models. Last year that old 873 became my fav rod, close behind ...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke

Spent the day with the Zillion fluke fishing, same fluke, 12lb floro, 7’2M 1st generation Adrena. Braid is not a option for me, I’m a straight floro guy. I am convinced that the Zillion SV TW is the better option for fluke fishing over the JDM Metanium I was using. Cast were definitely controlled be...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke

There are lots of variables here. You can upsize to a heavier hook or heavier bait if wind is a factor. The D-Shad is close to two grams heavier than the Super Fluke, and it will cast better. The D-Shad doesn't have as many color options and isn't as much of a finesse bait as the Super Fluke becaus...

Re: BEST reel for weightless fluke

For weightless flukes, I have been using an Alphas SV TW 800XHL paired with a Conquest 842C. But currently evaluating a Steez AGS Compile X 7'2" "Moving Bait Versatile" with the Alphas. The Steez will likely replace the Conquest. The Alphas SV TW is a great reel for casting distance and accuracy. I...

BEST reel for weightless fluke

Recently fished a bfl in which I had to throw a fluke all day. Used a 2020 jdm metanium mgl & I was getting great distance but cast were inconsistent & backlashes was a problem, I do run my reels LOOSE. The 2 reels I’m considering are the Steez sv tw, it’s regular $540 but I can get it for $450. The...

Re: Daiwa Steez AGS 7'3" Medium Heavy Utility Player

It’ll definitely handle those. But where this rod really shines is a t-rig. I been using the 7’3mh poison adrena for spinnerbait/chatterbait for the past few years & I was going to change over to the Steez when I got it but to me the Adrena is the better moving bait rod. Factor in price and it’s a n...

Re: 2021 steez ags rods

Well I just got a decent deal on the 7’3MH for $439, free shipping & no tax. Going to be doing a direct comparison with my 7’3MH poison Adrena, for sensitivity & the better spinnerbait/chatterbait rod. Landbigfish has a few models left in the lineup, 21LABOR to get 20% off if anyone is interested. ...

Does anyone regret buying the ‘19 Antares A b/c of weight?

Just purchased another jdm Metanium 2020 for $300 & I’ve noticed the Antares is $425 ish. For the people who maybe have both, is there a $125 improvement or even a improvement that is “very” noticeable? Just been looking for a different shimano to use. Either will be going on my NRX 873crr or NRX 89...

Re: How do you balance your NRX (894c) rod?

Why do people keep buying these rods? Supposedly they are SO sensitive. The 853 I used left me underwhelmed, to say the least. Guess I was expecting it to shoot flares or sparks when a fish bit. i sold the 853 for the same reason. they're incredibly light even though the balance isn't great ...

REALLY appreciate you taking the time to do this. You answered all my questions. =D> \:D/ np. One more application to try: hopping little 2.4" Dark Sleepers. I did that for spots this summer and it's a ton of fun on this stick. i fish Lanier and it's pretty much all spots so it'll def give it a try...
