Re: Rattle in TD-Ito spool
I made a discovery. It is indeed the little red plastic tabs making the noise. They slide freely back and forth, probably a good 1/16" or so. On my other TD-Ito spool they are firm against the sides and it doesn't look like they could slide at all. I'm completely baffled. Why would this be? Which sp...

Re: Rod for Jigs, Spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits
I'm currently selling a Dobyns Champion XP 735CB, new, never used- I bought it for all those techniques. It's a full grip and gets rave reviews for those applications. EDIT: Somehow missed the part about jigs. While you could sure fish a jig with this rod it's definitely not the ideal for that appli...

Re: St. Croix Avid X v's G. Loomis E6X
I've said it before, I loved my Avid X 7' MH F. Was a really great rod, looked nice, balanced well, and was quite sensitive and plenty of backbone. I liked it a lot better than my St. Croix LTB.
Never used an E6x but I've heard they are pretty heavy and a bit tip heavy.

Re: 30th Anniversary Gambler
Thanks y'all! I've gotten some time fishing it and caught a handful of fish- no big ones yet. I also have only used baits at the bottom end of its abilities- 3/8 and 1/2 oz. For those baits this feels like a super powerful rod. It throws and handles them just fine and I am getting super good casting...

Ah, makes sense, thanks!mrpao wrote:Looks like one is a 103 spool and the other a 105 spool
Still puzzled about the rattle.

Re: Rattle in TD-Ito spool
Thanks for the tip, I don't think it's the plastic pieces though. Tried holding them both down and shaking it and I still got the rattle. Another weird thing: this ito spool is different from the spool that came with my TD-Ito. Note the shape of the end bevel. Anyone know why this is?? http://i.imgu...

Re: What is your LIGHT texas rig setup?
This niche is important to me. I have a 2016 G.Loomis GLX 842MBR and a Daiwa SV105, spooled with 8 lb. Tatsu fluoro for this purpose. It also works great for weightless plastics.

Rattle in TD-Ito spool
I recently got a used TD-Ito spool. It's in great shape, no dings or bends in the rim. However, when I put it in my reel I noticed a small metallic rattle or clink every now and again while reeling. Upon removing the spool I get the same noise when I shake it, sounds like something inside is loose. ...

Add me to the list. I have a 13 y/o truck in ok shape and a 12' jon boat. But I do love me some high end rods and reels! The cost of my gear easily exceeds the cost of my boat.

Re: 30th Anniversary Gambler
Thanks y'all! Great rod indeed! Wish I could be as happy as you are with the carbon handle. Found it slippery at times, not the most comfortable material to fish with all day. I don't hate it, but would prefer cork or EVA. The rest of the rod/components definitely makes up for it. Interesting, I rea...

Re: Metanium MGL side plate
Bad comment on my part. I didn't think about how many people are rough on them or try and swindle companies for just being careless. I guarantee Daiwa would NOT replace a Steez sideplate. Wouldn't be much excuse either for dropping that one. Doesn't the newest Curado K sideplate stay attached? =D> ...

I would love to see the forum software upgraded from 1990's to modern day, with ipboard or something. That would also help the pictures problem.

Re: Cranking Reel help
TD-Z! Put a slightly longer handle on it and it makes a fantastic cranking reel.
Or for a few more $ a TD-Ito, there's a guy selling one here...
