Re: $250 rods

Out of the three, I have only fished with Cumaras, but I have handled several models of each in stores. The Cumaras definitely are the most tip heavy, but I honestly don't even notice it when I'm actually fishing. They are also very crisp and sensitive. Dobyns rods do balance well, but I don't feel ...

Re: Neat Lures 2014

I rarely upload pictures, but the only website I've used over the years is http://tinypic.com. It has always been free and easy to use, and I've never had a picture randomly disappear or anything like that.

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?

I was just messing around on the Shimano website, and I noticed that the ratings for the medium power fast action Cumara casting rods are pretty similar to the ratings I have seen for many medium light casting rods. Has anyone tried the CUC68MA or CUC72MA? I would think that these could be some pret...

Re: Stella FE versus Sustain FE

I have a Stella 2500FE, and the reason for the extra price shows up when fighting fish like the others said.

That said, the new Sustains are very impressive for the money. My brother has a few of them in the 2500 size, and I think that they are closing in on the Stella in performance.

Re: Dobyns Champion 701SF for panfish?

I personally prefer ultralight rods for crappie as long as I'm fishing open water, but if there is any cover involved, I prefer ML power rods. Most of my friends and family that I crappie fish with use pretty much nothing but ML rods, most of which are designed to be finesse bass rods. One of the ma...

Re: Daiwa z

Well I received the z last night and it is smooth. The reel is also bigger than i expected, that being said looking foward to fishing it . After repeatedly reading about the Z being pretty big, it actually turned out to be smaller than I expected. I have no problems palming it when mounted on a rod...

Wow 76,000 yen is a bit too much for me to consider being an early adopter.

Re: Will I lose distance with Fluorocarbon vs Mono?

Metan Invisible should do just fine on your Aldebaran BFS. The 4lb of it will be smaller and probably not as strong as the 4lb crappie mono you have been using though, so I'd step up to 5lb or maybe 6lb. Metan Invisible isn't weak by any means, but it does break closer to its rated strength than tho...

I like very lightweight equipment for T-rigging, so I'd vote for the Steez.

Re: what guides are these?

I have a Varivas mebaru rod that I bought in one of the Plat clearance sales that has those. They're pretty nice, but they are more prone to having the line wrap around the guides. Pretty much every time it happened when I had slack in the line after losing a fish or something, so it shouldn't be a ...

Pflueger Colorado Spinner Essentially two barrel swivels, two split rings, with a blade and hook attached...no idea what the actual weight is, but perhaps between 1/32 and 1/16 oz.? http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/46/kwob.jpg Huh I may put together a few baits like these myself with som...

Re: Which reel for Edge Rod's mag bass 705-1?

Although I haven't tried one yet, I'd be very tempted get a Metanium.

A Core 50 would also be excellent. I have 3 tuned by Ian, and they are outstanding for pretty much anything you'd be using that rod for.

Re: New shimano chronarch possibility?

I am going to bet the farm that it a chronarch G and is an all aluminum ci4+, priced at $210-220. Weight of 7.5-8.0 oz, SVS, x-ship. Wouldn't make sense with the curado I being so close in price and weight with basically the same features? You mean you wouldn't pay $50 for a heavier reel and 2 bear...

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?

I went back through my list of rods that I have owned...forgot about the near perfect match of the original Falcon Expert 6'9"L paired to a burgundy Scorpion 1000 back in the day! 8-) I found one of those on a clearance rack last year and picked it up. I probably ended up using that rod more than a...

Re: Smallest 1/16th weight?

Yeah several of the brands of tungsten bullet weights carried by Tackle Warehouse are available in 1/16oz. I personally use them occasionally, but never really for any truly ultralight applications.
