Re: Chronarch MGL

I have two and neither struggles with any weight. Very smooth. Both of mine are the 8.1:1 reels and I am lovin' those micro gears. The start up speed on the new spool is really spectacular. I never lock down my drags, leaving enough on to challenge the fish.. Well the handle was turning, but not th...

Chronarch MGL

I got this reel a couple of weeks ago , but haven't had a chance to use it until yesterday. I hooked up with a 3.5 lb bass, and I have to say this reel for me was struggling with this fish with the drag locked down. Anybody else experienced this I am really thinking of sending it back and look for s...

Re: Daiwa aftermarket Spools

I agree with Rippin, the SLP 1012 is far and away my favorite spool in every platform I've used it in. Doesn't hold back as much as the SV spools with larger inductors, yet still behaves like an SV spool. The spool from the Steez and Zillion SV TW are pretty similar. The spools from the Steez SV103...

Re: Chronarch MGL

Does anybody know what the frame of this reel is made of ? Is it magnesium ? Cal's review says, "Shimano doesn't really specify but comparing the reel's frame and sideplates to the previous generation reel, the carbon composite is similar to the Ci4+, possibly more rigid but hard to tell. One thing...

Re: Chronarch MGL

Does anybody know what the frame of this reel is made of ? Is it magnesium ? Do you ever do any research? Didn't know if you were aware or not, but it's ok to ask questions on forums. That's what they are for. Yes, but there's also a feature on the forum called "search" as well as the review articl...

D7 Spool

Since nobody wants to buy my pristine flawless D7
Can somebody tell me if they make a lighter shallow fast spool for this reel
and possibly the price.

Re: Reel choices

I was leaning toward the Chronarch MGL at one point. I believed the frame was magnesium , now I am reading that the whole reel
is made out of composite. Should anyone be afraid of buying composite made reels ?
I wanted to have a good casting reel with brass gears with a weight under 7 oz.

Re: Spinning Reels

My son has a Daiwa advantage 2500 had it for 6 years I think never done a thing to it, other than rub a little oil
on the cylinder that goes up and down when you crank, I don't know the name of the part.
its still smooth as butter.
They don't make this reel anymore would like something like it.

Re: Metanium mgl vs chronarch mgl thread

I appreciate this thread. I put the Met MGL through its paces last week and it is a reel (pun intended) winner. I'm able to use the same brake settings I do on my older 13 Mets which is 1 brake ON and external dial. I cast head on into heavy wind with little issue. Smooth as glass and long even wit...

Re: Daiwa SV103 versus Shimano Chronarch MGL

One got a 10 rating in performance by Cal, while the other one isn't even getting a review (that we know of). The only advantage that 103 will have is the frame material. Great point bro! For that price (33% OFF MSRP) discontinued 103 is still not sold out. Wondering why... Because you can get them...
