Re: Trout Starter Set

very pretty.

those hard baits are all nice looking. =D>

but if they aren't working, just throw a simple mepps or panther martin.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit I've caught 10+ trout on a spinner for every single trout I've caught on a hard minnow bait.

Re: Line on a spinning reel

but why do you fill with cheaper mono?

what does it save, compared to braid. A few dollars?

I've read this before...using mono to save money....from guys spending hundreds and hundreds on their rods and reels.

so very strange.

873crr is not as powerful as the 894, but more powerful than the 854.

Re: Do You Use Spinning Reels?

not to mention being able to finger the line with a spinning reel.

yes, you can try to do it with a BC, but it isn't nearly as easy or effective.

fishing senkos with a baitcaster is just straight up silly.

I think that would be below cost.

at least based on our local stores markups.

Re: Challenge: Pick 4 NRX Spinning Rods (if you could only carry 4)

802s (open water senkos and jerk baits as well as poppers) 803s (semi open water senkos and medium running crank baits) 804s (thick vegetation senkos, deep cranks, 3/4 ounce spinner baits) I own the above three and never leave shore without them. If I had to pick a fourth I'd probably go with a 901s...

lots of deals on the original NRX, no deals on the NRX +'s (at least any deal more than 10-15% off).

Re: The Highest Example – The Edge Epitome Rods from Gary Loomis

that's cause the NRX was the largest leap in quality, which hadn't been seen before - or since. we have had increases and improvements since the NRX, but not to the same level of jump the NRX brought the marketplace. if it wasn't for the McReelSeat it would likely be considered the greatest rod rele...

of course you do.

the failure rate was extremely high.

Shimano dan on here claimed 1-2%.

Shimano dan is a liar.

Re: Thinking of having a unicorn built-Poisonous AGS NRX 916 UBR?!?

forget the look. I wouldn't have cared if it was pink with green and orange trim. how Shimano/Loomis released the NRX with the reel seat issue, then proceeded to lie about the numbers, was the disaster that was the NRX. We'll never know the true percentage of failed NRX reel seats, but I do know the...

Re: Line on a spinning reel

I always find it amusing to read people put backing, or tape, or other things to reduce teh amount of line on the reel. I've run out of fingers and toes counting the number of times I've almost been spooled. I guess that's part of fishing water that have many different species. The idea of putting "...

Re: Line on a spinning reel

yes, 100% for sure, the more full the spool is (but not overfilled) the better and further the spinning reel will cast.

Re: Small hairjigs for largemouth

sure, but traditionally largies (at least big ones) are cruising in cover. Small hairjig hooks are fine for open water smallies with light line and light drags (with no obstructions and unlimited time to get them in the boat).

A bit tougher when trying to navigate a bucket through structure.
