Re: Stradic MgFB
Glad to know some consider them to be very good reels. I have a 2500 arriving Monday. Will be my first Shimano since an AX2000 that is probably over 30 years old.

Re: Daiwa Sol Baitcaster?
Seller can get whatever someone is willing to pay. My 2nd Sol came with ABEC9 Orange Seals, tuned, TD-Z handle, grips, Carbontex drag upgrade and spooled with Sunline Super Sniper for either $150 or $160. Think it was the lower price. Can't find a mark on it. Box and oil included. It is a LH model....

Re: Down under fisho
You're right there Native, we have some great locally made lures but the prices on imports are a shocker. I bought some Jitterbugs at a Bass Pro Shop in Phoenix last year for about $7, over here you can't get them for less than $17. It all ends in tears when you put one in a bloody tree. I've order...

Re: Down under fisho
Thanks. Will give it a look see. Like reading about other parts of the world. Australia was a country I often thought I would love to move to when I was much younger. No Bass Pro close to me, but there is a Cabela's about 35 minutes away. Sometimes take my camera with me when I visit. Lots of differ...

Re: Down under fisho
Welcome back. Sounds like some pretty darn good fishing in your area. I am envious. Sucks around here. I don't like fishing moving water, but think I could make an exception if living in your area. I doubt many will claim bigmouth bass are terrific fighters. Smallmouth are better, and Peacock ...

Re: Finesse Cranking Reel
Curado 100D Scorpion 1000 (original red one) CH SF CU 50E as noted CH 50 MG can be had for a little over $200 Scorpion XT can be had for a little over $200 Calcutta 50 TE Otherwise, I honestly believe a proper spinning combo casts lighter balsa lures better than any BC/BC combo. I can't disagree wi...

Only have experience with one Shimano that would fit the bill. It is a Curado 51E. I imagine any of the 50 size reels would accomplish what you are looking to do.

Re: Fuego casting reel: supertuning
I eventually want to trick out one of my Fuegos. Pretty sure I was told the TD-Z 100M spool fits it, and allows the reel to throw lighter baits. Call or email to be sure.

Re: Sub $200 finesse baitcaster? ($200ish...)
I have both the Sol and the Curado 50e. I like both reels a lot but the Curado works better for me casting 1/4 oz or less, not really a surprise since the curado's spool is significantly lighter than the Sol's. I'm not saying that the Sol wont throw less than 1/4 oz, just that it kind of below it's...

Re: FUN question!
My only Shimano rod carries a Fuego. Abu spinning rod has a Daiwa reel. Daiwa casting rod has an Abu round reel. I know for a fact all my Daiwa reels are color blind. Either that or they have no fashion sense. They have no care for the rod's manufacturer or rod color.

Re: Am i a fool for using mono ??
I agree with civicrr. I always carry my STX (loaded with 40# braid) when visiting Florida because probably 99% of the time we are throwing into lily pads and Hydrilla beds. Love my braid then. I have braid on 4 reels (2 came loaded that way), one with Fluro and the rest with Mono. I only feel handic...

Re: Tools for reel maintenance?
I just ordered the Wiha 26199 as suggested......and another...much more expensive...item not listed, but one that should be very helpful while learning. That item is a macro lens for my camera. Hope to order some of the other listed items along with bearings, drag and ??? tomorrow. Thanks guys.

Tools for reel maintenance?
I have reached a point where I can't possibly afford to send all my reels out for regular maintenance. I hate tinkering, but am going to have to bite the bullet, and at the very least start cleaning my own reels. Any reel with a problem will wind up at a professional's workplace. What would be a goo...
