Re: Shimano guys......
Curado 50 E and Chronarch 50 E are the same reel just different color. I would get the Curado 50 E which are still around. My reason for picking Curado 50 E is the handle that you can swap grip bushings to bearings. The Chronarch 50 E handles a machined to accept only one per grip.

Re: Bantam -Shimano Star Drags?
They are molded of the same material as the reel cover plates. If they were made of metal then weight comes into play. These comments about Shimano's and use of plastic in non critical area's is BS on the part of other reel makers. I see reels with gazillion bearings but are they using quality beari...

Re: Handle weights
Weights are just the handles with grips.
Curado 200 E = 1.23 oz with big grips
Curado 50 E = .85 oz small grips

Re: Shimano Baitcaster Handles
Core 50 come with two bearings per grip. Curado 50 E come with a bushing that can be replaced with a bearing. The grip shafts are machined the same. Curado 200 E has one bearing per grip. The new Ch50 E and Ch 200 E grip shafts are machined to accept only one outboard bearing per grip ](*,) If someo...

Re: Aluminum vs Magnesium Frame for Cranking Reel
The gear set installed is usually more important than the frame material for me. Despite the little bit of additional weight, I like brass gears over aluminum in most cases. They're generally tougher and feel smoother on the retrieve. I use both aluminum and magnesium framed reels for cranks and sp...

Aluminum vs Magnesium Frame for Cranking Reel
Which reel frame to use for Crankbaits / Spinnerbaits. I have both type frame materials its just a matter of installing gearsets in what would be best frame to use.

Re: Shimano Baitcaster Handles
What I have found is 50/100 series reels have 80mm handles and 200 series are 84 mm in length. Some 50 series have two bearings per grip. Calais handles have two bearings per grip. New Chronarch E's are machined to accept only one per grip.

Re: Curado 101D stripped main gear
It appears they changed the pinion gear part number and it will only work with a new aluminum main gear. You will need BNT3375 in place of the BNT1514. I don't mean to offend, but do you actually work for shimano? I don't want to receive the new part and get screwed for an additional $15 and anothe...

Re: Anybody use clear color baits
Yes... In my area we have lots of Gin Clear Waters full of Bronzebacks. I just add a dressed treble for a target. Always have a clear model of every topwater bait I own for those days.

Re: To Polish or Not To Polish?
I used one of those wet dry multi packs at Walmart in Automotive section. I think it was 320 grit washers now have circular score marks sanded them dry. Take a magic marker or bluing to coat washer face before sanding.

Re: To Polish or Not To Polish?
I sand the key washer only on side facing Carbon Fiber washer. This is in a Shimano reel which the key washer is made via stamping. I don't make them glass smooth instead leaving semi rough. Only looking to have perfectly flat key washer on drag contact side.

Re: To Polish or Not To Polish?
I only polish spool shaft and ends with felt button disc. Using a doubled over and then twisted pipe cleaner polish pinion bore. Metal drag washers are stamped from steel or aluminum. I sand them on piece of glass with sandpaper and circular motion. This removes any high spots and equalizes washer pr...
