Re: Dock Skipping -- seek advice on rod choice

Medium seems light to me. I usually go with MH 6 6 spinning. Do you guys lose a lot of fish with the mediums especially around metal docks?

Re: Best Lure for Dock Skipping???

Senko wacky rigged with an o ring. I find this rig almost never needs adjusting while other rigs need to be regularly re-rigged from the stress of skipping. I find that the genuine senko also has just the right weight to skip easily but get down 8-10 ft under deeper docks without waiting forever.

Fish both left and right handed baitcasters?

It seems like there are more guys fishing left handed casting reels these days. Question I have is do you guys exclusively fish right or left or do you have certain rigs that you fish with right and others with left? if so, how comfortable is it to keep switching quickly from one to the other? I kno...

Re: Vision 110 Jr.

I personally don't understand the logic behind the JR. The 110 is a small profile bait to begin with and is about as finesse as I want to go in the pre spawn. Just my two cents.

Re: Best way to spool up a spinning reel

Even more confusing is that many line winder like Berkleys have the reel mounted facing up. Assume that the tips for having the line come off the bottom of the spool means that the reel should be hanging down?

Re: St. Croix Legend Elite vs. Megabass Orochi XX

I have not fished the xx line but I find the elites and xtremes to be more sensitive than the top of the line MB rods. I like the MB rods for their actions but they just don't compare in sheer sensitivity IMO against elites/xtremes/glx/nrx rods.

Re: What is your goto technique and best rod length

Drop shot in mid or deep water with a 5 inch worm. Weightless Senko in shallower water. DS with a 7 ft ml rod. Senko on a 6 6 mh spinning rod. If I catch a couple fish and they are smaller, I move up to other bigger fish batis.

Re: Staying with a Lure or Technique that's NOT Working

Great question. You could say that making the decision to switch lures or spots is the essence of what great fisherman does especially in a tournament. I would add that it depends what you are out trying to do. If I am out fun fishing and trying catch a mix of numbers and size, I tend to switch more...

Re: FC Sniper vs Super FC Sniper

I use fluoro for jerkbaits and footballs. Sounds like FC Super might be better for the former but no the latter?

Do you mean the MHM?[/quote]
Yep, that is what I meant to say. It's a little old school with the full handle but its a great rod.

FC Sniper vs Super FC Sniper

Big price difference. I would be interested in feedback from those who have fished both. Thanks.

Re: Looking for a cranking rod..

St. Croix Avid 7ft MH is a great all arounder that is little known. It has a great blank and action and is nearly perfect for DT10's and med/large traps. Usual great St Croix build quality. They are a solid value at MSRP but a great deal when you can get them during a sale.

Mojo rig in cold water

I often fish Carolina rigs in the fall here in the Midwest. I know that lots of guys like fishing mojo rigs in the spring and summer but I am wondering if you guys have had success fishing it in water in the 50's in fairly deep conditions.

Re: Braid + FC Leader Spinning Setup for Dropshot ?

I really can't say for sure because I haven't done a side to side but I use a long enough FC leader so I don't worry about it. I just find it really hard to pick up moss green or other dark colors and so many of my drop shot strikes come from seeing the line twitch or move sideways.

Re: What makes a good jig rod

Im one of the contrarians that think dobyns rods are completely and totally over rated. ) I agree with this. Beautiful but don't have the sensitivity. I also won't pay 300 for a rod with kigan guides. For me, a jig rod also needs to have enough backbone to rip a football through the weeds. That's h...
